    This software appears to do a decent conversion and unlike the one mentioned in the article above it is completely free to use. I hope people find it useful.   https://www.fonepaw.com/heic-converter/

    Similar issue, but with the Samsung HEIC format. As Samsung is a major manufacturer of android phones I expect this will become an increasing issue. Not everyone likes or uses Apple hardware
