MacBook upgrade from Intel to M2 chip - what happens

I am considering upgrading my MacBook.  Under My Software, I noticed that there is an Intel based download or an M1 chip for Neo.  I currently use the intel version.  What happens when I upgrade to an M2 chip?

  Hi there.

  Luminar Neo is compatible with the M2 chips as well :)

  Thank you for your quick response. I assume then that I copy my data across from Intel chip computer to new m2 chip computer by whatever means is appropriate and all will work seamlessly.
