Upscale AI - Poor quality

Hello,

Of the expansions announced so far, I was looking forward to "Upscale AI" the most. Unfortunately, I was also most disappointed by this expansion.

I downloaded a royalty-free photo via Pixbay and reduced the resolution. The result can be seen here:

I then upscaled this image with 3 different programs.

1. Affinity photo (normal bicubic upscaling by a factor of 6).

2. Topaz Gigapixel AI (6x upscaling)

3. Luminar Neo (6x with Upscale AI)

How can it be that even a normal bicubic upscaling gives better results than Luminar Neo's "Upscale AI"? Have I overlooked any settings? But it looks like I can only choose the upscale factor (2x, 4x, 6x).
