adding extra 1" to both sides of a picture

In Composition, you can only delete parts of an image. How do you add extra inches to an image, (which you will then clone to change the aspect ratio.)

  At the moment, it's only possible to resize the photo during export:

  

  To access the export window, please right-click the file > Export
