How to batch edit multiple images from Lightroom in Luminar Neo
AnsweredI wanted to share a discovery if it's helpful to anyone else. Hopefully, this is something the team can work on implementing natively without a hack. With my old Luminar AI setup, I could select a lot of images at once in Lightroom, then right click and select "edit in", then Luminar AI. Doing this would open each image individually one by one in Luminar AI for a quick edit, then apply the edits back to Lightroom. Once one image edit was applied, the next image would be opened in sequence. If you try to do this with the recommended method of "file", "plug in extras", "transfer to Luminar AI" it will only open the first selected image and then stop.
I couldn't figure out why this didn't work with Luminar Neo, I contacted support and they said this just wasn't possible. So I actually looked at the External Editor .lrtemplate files in a text editor. I discovered I was actually calling the Plug-In and not the actual application in my external editor settings. So if you want Luminar Neo to work like I described, do this on a Mac at least.
Go to Lightroom preferences, "external editing" tab, then create a preset for Luminar Neo. Next, go to the "presets" tab, then click "show all Lightroom presets". Go to the "external editor presets" folder and edit the preset file you just created. Change the externalEditorFullPath to the following externalEditorFullPath = "/Library/Application Support/Skylum Software/LuminarNEO/Plug-Ins/LuminarNEO"
Now this preset will call the LuminarNeo plugin instead of the application. This will let you edit, for example, 30 images in a batch instead of having to select each image individually and use the normal method. I hope this is helpful, let me know if what I stated isn't clear it's hard to explain.
