Super Slow on MacBook Pro - respect to AI and 4
AnsweredHello there!
As the title states: I have Luminar 4, Ai and Neo installed on my MacBook Pro. I use them along with Adobe Lightroom as its plugin.
Since the 1st version I noticed it was really slow, I would say laggy. It takes 5-10 seconds to load a preset on the image, to change anything on the Develop tool, any correction even the most simple one takes ages. JPG or RAW the same.
It also is annoying, in addition to the "lag", that there is no visible clue of the software "thinking", and it just seems idle doing nothing.
The same corrections however, work fine and fast with Luminar Ai and 4. Like 0,5-1 seconds in Luminar Ai against to 5-10 seconds with Luminar Neo.
I formatted my Mac and had a new install of everything, and the problem is still there.
It appears to be the same with either the plugin for Lightroom and the standalone program (seems maybe a bit faster the standalone, but not much).
Any idea?
thank you very much.

I experienced the same problem. Very slow and sluggish. I have M2 Pro 24GB memory 1TB drive. Luminar is slow because the software itself is not built for Apple's new silicon (software limitation). It has nothing to do with the machine's hardware, I know it because I am a software engineer. So Luminar team PLEASE improve & upgrade the Luminar software stacks.
Many people from the Mac M1/M2 community also experience sluggishness. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/luminar-ai-running-choppy-slow-on-m1-max-mbp.2323941/
