Luminar AI running too slow please guide
AnsweredHi there, I'm using Luminar 4.3 while Luminar AI running on my older PC (8GB DDR4 RAM, hard drive, 1 GB GPU). Although, the Luminar is stable, but running extremely slow.
That's why I'm planning to purchase a decent gaming PC:

Ryzen 5600x processor

High-speed SSD

GTX 1650 Graphics Card
However, I'm reading a lot of complaints from customers with the same PC specs as mine having a ton of problems while running Luminar AI. Most users are complaining about its slowness and crashing.
So I just wanted to ask has Skylum resolved these issues or it's just a misconception?

I have a Dell laptop with 32 Gb of RAM that runs Lumiknar AI and Neo without an issue. My main desktop has 64 Gb RAM and never has issues.
It isn't always a hardware issue, it often is a system software issue. Open Window's Task Manager, click on the Performance Tab, then the Open Resource Manager link, then the Memory Tab You'll see how much memory is really available for processing.

For Luminar AI running on MS Windows, Skylum recommends 16GB of RAM, although it will run with only 8GB. The problem with 8GB is that the OS takes about 3GB of RAM, leaving only 5GB for applications. When you open a big file in Luminar AI, it will end up having to use virtual RAM, which means lots of slow memory page swapping and that's slow.
In your new system, 32GB should be more than adequate. Luminar AI is highly multi-threaded and runs best on a CPU with lots of cores (the AMD 5600x has 6 cores and would be good). Luminar AI doesn't really use the GPU. If you move up to Luminar Neo, it will use the GPU and it is more RAM efficient.Carl

Generally, the performance depends on these factors:
- Library size;
- Where the images are located (an internal drive will give a better performance compared with an external drive);
- Images' format (JPEGs will load a bit faster than RAWs, while also there might be some issues if you work with hi-res RAWs);
- Your hardware configuration and free disk space (10GB free disk space at least is required);
- Whether there are any processes running in the background. -
Still very slow when starting up. Looking at activity monitor the strange thing is the amount of time it now spends with very low CPU usage of single figures as activity monitor shows the application is not responding. Then it gives a few bursts of double figures before hitting three figures and eventually opening the app.
The other noticeable thing is that, if I follow one Luminar AI edit quickly after another it opens quite quickly. Leave it for any length of time and I am back to an eight minute “application not responding” before it finally opens.Disappointing since the previous versions were reasonably quick to open. -

Please try increasing the size of the page file: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-virtual-memory-size-windows-10
(If increasing the page file doesn't bring any positive changes, please set it back to "Automatically manage paging files size for all drives").
The paging file is a minimum of 1.5 times and a maximum of two-three times your physical RAM.

Please clarify whether you tried to increase the pagefile size as was suggested above.
What’s your major concern in terms of performance? (e.g. RAW file rendering speed, export speed, etc.) How much time does it take to export an image/ to apply an adjustment to an image?
