Skylum Fix for Neo Crashing - It Worked For Me
AnsweredHere are details from a Skylum Support email regarding the Neo crash upon open issue, and it worked!
We're also sorry to hear the issue persists. Our developers have already come up with another update that includes the fix, so could you please try reinstalling the app in the following way once again? I'm afraid this is the only way we can replace the versions on your device and make sure the correct one is fully installed.
- Go to “Apps and Features” by right click on the Start button;
- Find Luminar there and click [Uninstall] (you can also uninstall from the Control Panel);
- Type %appdata% in Search (folder Roaming should open);
- Find the folder “LuminarNeo” and delete it (it deletes your activation for Luminar Neo too);
- Go to Pictures and rename the folder called Luminar Neo Catalog (if you have your Catalog anywhere else, find it and rename it).
- Install the app once again and launch the most recent update https://skylum.com/download/luminar-neo-paid
- Activate the software by logging in to your Skylum account. Next, on the Welcome to Luminar Neo screen, click on the + button and add a small folder with images or a single image for editing.
Please, let us know how it goes now.
Kind regards,
-
What I've found that actually works for me every time my Luminar Neo crashes (silently closes after the splash screen) - it usually happens when Luminar Neo caused my system to freeze so I have to reboot, is the only these two steps:
1. Delete the folder "LuminarNeo" in %appdata%/Roaming
2. Restart the app and login using your Skylum account.

Hello Alberto,
Would you be so kind as to reach us via support@skylum.com so we can look into your issue?

Well, mine keeps crashing too, 12 Gb Ram, i7 Intel PC, just does not respond anymore and I have to do a hard reboot. One thing that may help some here is that I found that if the image file has a large pixel size, in my case 9000px X 12000px that is when it crashes almost all the time. I have to down sample in Photoshop to 7000px or below for the long side, and that seems to keep the program stable. Skylum, you may want to take note of that and fix it.
This happens in both Neo & AI
