Luminar Neo Memory Leak?
AnsweredHi,
Trying to edit a single compressed raw file from my Sony a7r IVA. Memory consumption keeps going up and up till eventually it was consuming 60Gb of 80Gb on my Windows 10 HP PC.

hi Alina,
I have exactly the same memory leak issues as Tony. I have 64GB RAM, which are getting filled up by working on Luminar Neo AI features in less than 10 minutes. One time I've got BSOD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL system error when the memory utilization got over 90%. This product (I'm running the Update 2) is still very unstable.
Thank you,

Hi All,
Indeed, the program is in the development stage now. However, our specialists contribute as intensively as possible to comprehensive performance and workflow optimization. A high range of the new features and improvements will occur with future updates.
Currently, the software relies mainly on CPU and RAM. The application can use the maximum amount of RAM when one works with the program. But as soon as the user finishes the editing, the RAM consumption drops again.
Follow these recommendations.
Windows:
Try increasing the pagefile size: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/how-to-increase-virtual-memory-in-windows-10-a/46dacaf5-15cf-4f5d-9d5a-cba1401ae4c9.
The pagefile is a minimum of 1.5 times and a maximum of two-three times your physical RAM. You can calculate your pagefile size using the following system:
For minimum: [1GB RAM (1024 mb) x Installed RAM x Minimum]
For a system with 32GB RAM, it would have a minimum of 1024x32x1.5=49152 MB,
The maximum is calculated this way: [1GB RAM (1024 mb) x Installed RAM x Maximum].
But if increasing the pagefile doesn't bring any positive changes, please set it back to "Automatically manage paging files size for all drives".

Free up drive space: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12425/windows-10-free-up-drive-space.
Clear the memory: https://www.easeus.com/computer-instruction/clear-memory-and-increase-ram.html
macOS:Make sure you have enough space on the hard drive:
- Click on the Apple Icon
- Select About This Mac
- Click Storage (or More Info > Storage on older Macs)
The window that opens will show how much free space currently takes place. Here are some tips on how to free some storage space: https://cleanmymac.com/fix-mac-startup-disk-full-error
If the issue persists, please try reinstalling the application in the following way (make sure to save all necessary results in advance):
- Delete the app with AppCleaner. Download AppCleaner from here: http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner
Drag Luminar Neo from your Applications folder into the AppCleaner window. When removing Luminar, mark all the files and folders in the list, except for RTW788AXG3.com.skylum.luminarNeo. - Go to Pictures -> Luminar Neo Catalog and rename this folder (if you have created the Catalog in another Location, please navigate there and rename the Catalog folder).
- Open Luminar Neo Catalog folder, locate the file Luminar Neo Catalog.luminarneo and change its name too.
- Go to Application Support (launch Finder > Go > Go to Folder > paste /Library/Application Support/Skylum Software and delete Luminar Neo folder.
- Go to Terminal and paste: defaults delete com.skylum.luminarneo, then press Enter
- After that please install Luminar Neo back from the link below: https://downloads.skylum.com/luminarneo/mac/Mac_Luminar_Neo.dmg

Ivan Azure,
Thank you for the instructions. Unfortunately this didn't help at all in my case.
My Mac has plenty of free HD space (> 500GB).I followed all steps to uninstall and install again, with the following differences:
1 - defaults delete com.skylum.luminarneo didn't work:patrick@Patricks-Air ~ % defaults delete com.skylum.luminarneo
2022-06-30 23:18:12.938 defaults[42650:12401440]
Domain (com.skylum.luminarneo) not found.
Defaults have not been changed.2 - I renamed back the Catalog folder and file, as I don't want to loose all my edits.
I urge you to test this and get it right on the next release.Fixing this issue is way more important than any new feature that you might have on your backlog, it must be a P1. If I can't use the software for longer than 15 minutes, editing a single picture, then it's not really useful.

This is how it looks like.
The WindowServer process, because of Luminar Neo starts using loads of space, and even after killing Neo it doesn't free up the space, unless I also kill it.
This is happening every single time I try to use Neo.
Note: I have a Catalog with 707 pictures from both my Canon 5d Mark ii and my iPhone 13 Pro, all in Raw format, and a few of these pictures have been edited.

Is this issue ever going to resolve? I still have same issue, I reinstalled as directed by support team and still got the memory usage above 70GB while working on one pic. I thought its only happening to me until I see this thread. Can we have a update when this issue will be resolved? I just don't feel like wasting money on luminar neo but also on the extensions pack.

I found the way to avoid getting eaten up by space usage. I tried to do a batch processing for 350 images, where I copy pasted adjustments from one to rest. I see mostly less than 40 GB in Activity monitor. But when I tried to scroll the images while it is still processing, space is shooting up to 90 GB or until application gets stuck and reboots. Still this is something Luminar development team should fix and Tester to work on performance testing.
