Luminar Neo Luminar Share app not working on Neo - get error message
AnsweredI have updated my early release of Neo to version to 0..9.2, then downloaded the Luminar Share app as instructed. I click on the 'share' button within Neo, that brings up the QR code which I am then meant to read with the camera on my iPhone. However, when I point the camera at the QR code, I get 'Cant connect to Luminar Neo Please, make sure your devices are connected to the same wi-fi network (they are) and try again'
So the major addition to this update, for us to try, doesn't work.
Using MAC OS Monterey 12.1
(Thought it may be my iPhone 13, so tried the same thing with my iPad Mini 5. Same result - no connection through Neo but the 'ping' test to the iPad works fine.)

Hi guys,
If you have any connection issues with Luminar Share, make sure that you use the same network for both Desktop and Mobile and they can communicate with each other.
If the connection still fails, please try the steps below.
First, please find your mobile device’s IP address:
- instruction for iPhone: https://www.macinstruct.com/tutorials/how-to-find-your-iphones-ip-address/
- instruction for Android: https://help.simpletelly.com/article/329-how-to-find-your-android-device-ip-address
Then, ping the mobile device from your Desktop:
- instruction for macOS: https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/ping-test-mac-3524076/
- instruction for Windows: https://www.hellotech.com/guide/for/how-to-do-a-ping-test-windows-10
If the ping fails:
1) Try to add exceptions to the firewall
- instruction for macOS: https://blink.ucsd.edu/technology/security/user-guides/firewall/mac-snow.html
- instruction for Windows: https://lexisnexis.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1081611/~/adding-exceptions-to-the-windows-firewall
2) Try to turn off AP isolation on your router (please refer to one of the links below depending on the model of your router):
- linksys: https://www.linksys.com/gb/support-article?articleNum=135098
- asus: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1044821/
- tp-link: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2089/
3) Change the Windows 10 network location to private:

Are you using the same network for both Desktop and Mobile device?
-
Elena: you are not listening! We are ALL using the same network - most people just have the one network at home, it is simple to connect your iPhone and computer to the same network. But Neo is not allowing the iPhone / Computer to connect via the app. I have said this, Francois has said this, so has Shelley. So it seems to be a problem with the software, not the networks.

I think it is hit and miss. I was told to delete the app and then redownload from the App Store. It still didn't work. And then about n hour later it did. I got it working on my iPad before the iPhone.
Now I have another issue. With the exception of an image I sent from my iPhone to my desktop, all other images show the share button on my desktop greyed out.
I only have about 30 images and I have been using Neo as a plugin from On1 PR 2022.

After FINALLY getting Luminar Share to work yesterday (set an exemption in the Mac Firewall, also set my router to just 2.4ghz and connected both my iPhone and Mac to that - it worked! The set router back to normal as before and it still worked!), this morning it wouldn’t connect. Again. Shut Neo down, shut the app down, tried again and it is working again.

Elena O'Brien It has been 4 days since I responded to you - any answer? Share is very buggy. I appreciate using us as beta testers but wish responses could be more timely. EDIT: I should add buggy as in it does not work at all. I use windows 11 on PC (i9-9900 CPU @ 3.10GHz).

I absolutely agree with the previous poster. Luminar Share does not have any kind of functionality to make it useful to Mac users. It's not a fully-fledged editing app like, say, On1 Photo Raw for Mobile and getting it to work is still nigh impossible. In my case, it didn't work on my iPad, then it did, now it doesn't again. I have given up on it, at least until Neo is fully released.
It will be even easier to move between Apple devices when Universal Control is released.

Hi Member, Tom and Londinense,
Check whether you have IPv6: when you're trying to establish the connection unsuccessfully, please visit this link: https://whatismyipaddress.com/
If you get the result as in the screenshot below (IPv6: not detected), please contact support via support@skylum.com
If iPv6 is detected, please try disabling the element and check whether the issue persists:
Please note that the procedure is simple and not harmful for the devices. We would also be glad to answer your questions concerning Luminar Share advantages.

I've used it from a Mac desktop once. Currently trying to share to my Windows laptop. No go. I've even force stopped, cleared data, uninstalled, re-installed the app on my Android device. My Android device and Windows laptops are on the same network (duh). You know what the definition of insanity is?

Elena Blum... you don't think I tried the boiler plate solution you posted at the beginning of this thread, let alone read it, so you had to post it again just for me? How insulting. I have been working in IT since before you were born. I assume that the list of routers is just an example, not exhaustive, so how can you assume I have one of those? For the record, I don't even use one of the routers you listed. Furthermore, I don't have AP isolation enabled on the router I do use, which is disabled by default, anyway. If it were enabled, I wouldn't be able to communicate with my other devices using my other phone apps. I could go on about all of the other configuration settings. Trust me, it's not my hardware. It's your software, which I cannot fix. That is what everyone is asking your team to do... address it. I'm not saying that your rubber stamp solution isn't helpful, I'm just extremely insulted that you posted it again, as if I didn't read this thread from the top. I simply mentioned I tried everything over and over and over. Your turn. Fix it.

Not everyone is so tech proficient, other app's I use just communicate with each other just fine. Like everyone else on here I only have one wifi network I connect to. Perhaps you create a diagnostic tool that walks people through the process automatically when errors happen. Or better yet figure out why just your software has issues. Right now luminar share is useless to me, the whole point of having a QR code to scan is simplicity.
Word of advice...if after doing what is requested and it just fails, a lot of users will simply just give up and look for A) a refund, or B) move on to a competitor that does not give errors, and simply works.
Please fix the issue that has obviously been going on un-patched for most of a year by reading of the above comments.

Hi Nunzio,
If you're receiving this error, I would strongly recommend trying the following suggestions:
1) Try to add exceptions to the firewall
- instruction for macOS: https://blink.ucsd.edu/technology/security/user-guides/firewall/mac-snow.html
- instruction for Windows: https://lexisnexis.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1081611/~/adding-exceptions-to-the-windows-firewall
2) Try to turn off AP isolation on your router (please refer to one of the links below depending on the model of your router):
- linksys: https://www.linksys.com/gb/support-article?articleNum=135098
- asus: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1044821/
- tp-link: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2089/
3) Change the Windows network location to private:
If you're running on Mac
-
Enable Auto Proxy Discovery on macOS:
on Ventura, Go to Settings > WIFI > select your network > Details > Proxies > Auto Proxy Discovery
On macOS below Ventura: Go to System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies > check the AUTO PROXY DISCOVERY option.
If you have an iPhone, go to Settings > Luminar Share > make sure that 'Local Network' is on.
If all of those steps don't help, please contact us at https://skylum.com/support
