Problems with Installing Custom Skies
AnsweredHi:
I am a new user and have been struggling with installing new skies that were either purchased or downloaded as part of the Luminar X Membership.
I am running on a late 2020 27-in iMac with 64 GB memory and OS Monterey 12.0.1.
When I drag and drop a new skies folder to the Custom area of the Skies Tool, nothing happens. The folder is not moved/copied to this area and cannot be seen in the Tools >Skies pull-down. However, I can load individual JPG files from these folders. These files show up fine in the pull-down, but they cannot be shown in a folder. This is, of course, very inconvenient if you have a lot of custom files.
My workaround, that seems to work just fine, was to search my system hard drive to find where the custom skies might be saved. To do this, I took a JPG file from one of my new sky folders, renamed it to something that would be unique, and then installed it in the Custom Skies as per the instructions. I then used the Finder to find this file. Since it is in a hidden folder, it was necessary to instruct Finder to show hidden files (CMD-SHT-.). This file was easily found, but the path is long and very unintuitive. I opened the Custom folder in this path and dragged and dropped my new skies folders to this path. They show up just fine in Tools> Skies listed under the folder name.
This implies that there is a bug in how the program operates under Monterey for dragging and dropping files into the Custom Skies folder as given in the instructions.
I hope this is useful. I would be happy to learn if others have the same issue, or if I am just doing something very wrong.
Cheers

Hi Robert,
You can organize your custom sky textures in folders when you perform the following:
click Skyᴬᴵ > Sky Selection > select upper menu with skies > Show Custom Skies. The folder will open. It will display all textures added via the + button in the Custom menu. You can create new folders there and copy new files there.
Do I understand right that you cannot copy files to the folder that opens when you follow the steps outlined in th screenshot above?
