Luminar AI does not start!
AnsweredI've been using Luminar AI normally recently, when all of a sudden it would not start today. I can see "Luminar AI" in the task bar, but clicking on it does not bring up the window. Hovering to get a thumbnail preview just shows a black window. I have waited long enough for it to start.
I have tried running the "Repair" option--no luck. I then tried uninstalling, rebooting Windows, then reinstalling. The installation completed successfully, but when I try launching Luminar AI, same thing.
This is so frustrating! Anyone else encountering this?

I tried rebooting into Safe Mode, did another repair, tried to restart. This time I got a message stating the Luminar AI required OpenGL 3.3 or higher. I checked and discovered that I had OpenGL 4.6.
Updated my video driver through nVidia, checked and installed the latest Windows 10 update. Luminar AI still won't start!

Hi Carl,
I'm sorry to hear about the issue you encountered!
Please try reinstalling the app in the following way:
- Go to “Apps and Features” by right click on the Start button;
- Find Luminar there and click [Uninstall] (you can also uninstall from the Control Panel);
- Type %appdata% in Search (folder Roaming should open);
- Find the folder “LuminarAI” and delete it (it deletes your activation for Luminarᴬᴵ too. Please, note that your Custom and downloaded Looks/templates will be removed, so make sure to save them somewhere);
- Go to Pictures and rename the folder called Luminar AI Catalog (if you have your Catalog anywhere else, find it and rename it).
- Install the app once again and launch it: https://downloads.skylum.com/luminarai/win/Win_Luminar_AI_Release.msi
- Activate the software by logging in to your Skylum account. Next, on the Welcome to Luminar AI screen, click on the + button and add a small folder with images or a single image for editing.
Let me know the outcome.

Thank you so much Agatha! That did the trick--there was something corrupt in the "Luminar AI" folder under %appdata%. I tried reverting back to the original one and sure enough Luminar would not start again.
It's a shame I have to go through all that effort to reinstall my purchased templates and legacy templates. I am hoping Luminar Neo will be more robust!
And to Roy Blackwell: Thank you for the suggestion. Though it did not work, I'll keep it in mind as a first-line troubleshooting if this happens again.
