I agree with a few commenters.  I have purchased Luminar, Luminar 2018, Luminar 3, 4, AI and preordered Neo. I also have Aurora HDR 2018 and 2019 and even AirMagic...I'm done. It seems that the 'no subscription' scenario is really just a ruse. Instead of upgrades to existing software they just create knockoffs and say how much greater they are and force you to purchase yet another stand alone...crap...I am beginning to think a photo subscription to Adobe for Lightroom may be a much better option. Neo will be the last app I buy from Skylum unless they come up with a better model....

At least they will tell you that their next release will be perfect...if you only pay for it... :-)

I sent a question to support and have not heard anything back? Why do I start off at one price CDN but when I go to my payment it's charging me more?

    Hi Tobias,

If you wish to check if your Luminar AI purchase was made within Grace period, please get in touch with our support team at https://skylum.com/support. They will check everything for you.

If your purchase was indeed made within Grace period, you should already see Luminar Neo being displayed in your Skylum account. Once the app is released, the download link will appear in your account.

    Bonjour,

No problem Dave, but my comment is only an opinion. I have a feeling that even Skylum is unsure about how AI and Neo will work out... ;) In my opinion there could be something that works more as a plugin (like NIK Collection), and a more complete software with DRM (like Lightroom).

Talking about bargains, the deal on Humble Bundle is an even better one: for 22 EUR/USD you'd have many extra resources plus Aurora HDR, Photolemur (I also owned this before, next to Luminar 4), so it is a killer deal even if you own some stuff from it. (I have no commission or whatsoever advertising this, just so many of us feel a bit let down paying too much for the same software, some may compensate themselves with this generous offer.)

    Hi Don,

    Humble Bundle offer includes:

    1. The latest version of Luminarᴬᴵ (1.5.0 for Mac and 1.5.1 for Windows);
    2. The latest version of Luminar 4 (4.3.3);
    3. The latest version of Photolemur 3 (1.1.1 for Mac and 1.1.0 for Windows);
    4. The latest version of Aurora HDR (2019 1.0.0 for Windows and 1.0.1 for Mac).

Luminarᴬᴵ, Luminar 4 and Aurora HDR are currently supported. All the owners receive free updates (bug fixes, support of new camera models) automatically. As for the Photolemur 3, we do not plan to release an update for it in the nearest future, however, note that all the licenses don't expire. Even if the app haven't received an updated for some time, you can still use it.

I hope this clarifies what is included.

Helga Hufflepuff, thank you for the confirmation.

I even realised the Luminar AI comes with a 2-seats license, so it can be activated on 2 computers. I was worried it will be the 1-seat version, pleasantly surprised!

I'd approach the Humble deal with caution because it's not clear whether they're selling current versions of the Skylum software. Photolemur is an older product that I thought had been abandoned by Skylum, like Snapheal.  Skylum's history is littered with "next great thing" products abandoned shortly after their introduction.  A Google search shows Photolemur is still available, billed as the first image editor to use AI, but of course Skylum is now plugging Luminar AI and Luminar Neo for that.

Anyway, it's not clear that the Humble deal will allow you get the updates to the latest versions of the included Skylum products, and without the updates those products are useless.

    Hi Markus and Sascha

Please accept my apologies for the vague statement I made. We provide a free copy for those customers who purchased Luminar AI within the grace period - from late July till early September. Once the preorder was launched, the Luminar Neo logo appeared in the Skylum accounts of the customers who got Luminar AI with this period I mentioned. Once again, I'm sorry that my reply only confused our users instead of bringing the clarification. I did not mean to misinform anyone in this thread.

    Hi all!

I am truly sorry to hear that you feel upset regarding the ETA for the Luminar Neo release.

Let me kindly note that in our official statements, we always mentioned that the software will be released this winter.

As much as we want to, I'm afraid we cannot ship the software earlier.

    Black Eyes,

I'm terribly sorry to hear that you've had an unpleasant experience using our software. Please accept my sincere apologies for it. Usually, the performance depends on the number of photos you have in your catalog, their format, your hardware configuration, etc. Kindly reach our support team at https://skylum.com/support , we'd be glad to investigate it.

    Hi guys,

    Allow me to clarify.

The Grace period is the period between July 27 and September 9. If you purchased Luminar AI between July 27 and September 9, you’ll get the Luminar Neo image editor for free when it’s released.

Tobias, it looks like your purchase was made on July 25, and regrettably, it is not within the Grace period.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please get in touch with our support team at https://skylum.com/support. They will be happy to help!

    Hi Bill Youstra!

I am so sorry to hear that you have had an unpleasant experience working with our software.

Customer satisfaction is always a number one priority for us. I'm deeply sorry that that wasn't clearly demonstrated to you.

As for updating Luminar AI, we typically ship compatibility and minor feature updates during 12-24 months after the release. The updates are free.

The upgrades are always optional, we understand and respect the decisions of our customers to keep the current version that remains functional and will be supported by the team.

Also, according to our policies, we do provide a free Luminar Neo copy for those who recently (from late July till early September) purchased Luminar AI.

As for the pricing, I will pass your concern to our marketing team and bring their attention to it.

I appreciate you letting us know about your experience. We strive to ensure every customer is satisfied with our software, and your input matters to us. Once again, I apologize for any way in which we may have inconvenienced you.

Thank you for staying with us.

    Hi,

Luminar AI and Luminar Neo are intended for different audiences.

Luminar AI is for those who want quick results with template-driven workflow, Luminar Neo will be more complex tasks. While it will incorporate the majority of Luminar AI's features, it will have a number of new AI-powered features, an enhanced layers workflow (more efficient and flexible compared to Luminar 4), and a much speedier new core engine.

It's more like an improved version of all Luminar line products that we've ever released. I hope you give the app a try when it's released. We'll definitely offer a free trial or, if you choose to pre-order at an early-bird price, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee starting from the release date.

We completely understand how disappointed one can get when purchasing a software and hearing about the new one being released, so, there is a grace period for those, who has just recently purchased Luminar AI, they've all received an email with the offer.

    Hi guys,

We usually ship the upgrades (or new software) every 12-24 months. The upgrades are the next versions of the app, which require purchasing a separate license for them and the upgrades are absolutely optional. We do realize that this business model is not perfect and we are considering alternative ones for future development.

    Hi Sascha,

Please kindly note that Luminar Neo is based on unique technologies developed by Skylum and works on a module system, thus, it's a different product than Luminar AI. However, most of the features from Luminar AI will still be available in Luminar Neo.

We will continue supporting Luminar AI and also ship updates for things like the forthcoming Windows 11 from Microsoft.

    Hi James,

First, thanks a lot for your interest in our software!

    Let me address your question.

Luminar Neo is based on unique technologies developed by Skylum and works on a module system, which means that different parts of the application can now be optimized separately for the best results. Thanks to the independent modules engine, Luminar Neo will consume fewer resources and as a result, run smoother. Also, this core will help us to add new updates with features to the current app without affecting the way the software works overall.

We're also bringing the layers back to Neo, only now, the layers system will be more robust and you'll get more controls and flexibility.

Not to mention new features for quick removal of sensor dust, power lines in the image, a relighting tool that controls the exposure of an image based on the distance from the lens. It’s useful for independently adjusting the background and foreground exposure. The app will also have a mobile assistant for the quick transfer of images from your mobile device to the Luminar and vice versa.

We'll share more info with you in the upcoming weeks. Meanwhile, I invite you to check our FAQ: https://skylum.com/luminar-faq/neo/general

    Hello James,

Luminar Neo is being built on a completely new engine and from scratch. This will improve the performance of the app and allow more room for improvement.

That being said, Luminar Neo is a different application that will have new UI, new tools and it will also have more control over the edits done.
