Luminar AI: Windows vs Mac?
AnsweredCross-posting really from the Windows forum: experiencing slow performance and occasional crashes when using Luminar AI in standalone mode (Surface Book, i5, 8GB RAM).
Does anyone have experience with both the MacOS and Windows versions of Luminar AI? Is the MacOS version better optimized?
Wondering if I would be better served switching platforms?

Hello Member,
Sorry for the long waiting.
Please, note that performance speed does depend on several factors. They include system specs, amount of photos, its format and location where you store those photos.
Some users do report that Luminar usually works faster on Macs compared with Windows. However, maybe there is something we can do in your case to optimize the performance on your Windows computer.
Can you please kindly reach us via https://skylum.com/support ?
We would also ask you to enclose your full system info. Here is how to collect it:
-
Press the Windows logo key + R.
-
Type msinfo32 in the dialog box that opens and hit Enter on your keyboard.
-
In the window that opens, make sure you have System Summary highlighted on the left.
-
Click File > Export.
-
Type the file's name (you can choose any you like), save it somewhere where you can easily find it, and attach this text file to your reply to this email.
N.B. The links are clickable and show the screenshots that can guide you, if necessary.
Here is the video tutorial on how to retrieve your system info: https://www.loom.com/share/97aff7951ee3412daa020f1d88eb36e8
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Member,
Don't be jealous ... on Mac I am having the same problems: poor performance and sometimes crashes.
- when clicking on a picture, I have to wait 15-20 seconds before it appears clearly and ready to be editable.
- when modifying something, I have again to wait a couple of seconds before seeing the results.
Luminar AI has interesting features but really very poor performance and not reliable at all. Sometimes it also lost the edits. Don't forget to regularly save your computer. I had already lost all the edits 2-3 times.
Summary: interesting features, poor performance and not reliable!
