I'm finding the "Remove CA" feature very underwhelming, and I'm wondering if I'm having a workflow issue or I'm missing a feature, or perhaps the software doesn't do what I'm use to seeing from other SW. Please note this is the results of one image, not a bracket. However, I have had good results Tone Mapping from other SW, so I feel the following results might be my unfamiliarity with the product.
First, I tried editing a photo in Luminar 3. Under "Raw Develop" I corrected Lens Distortion, and Chromatic Aberration. I also did some RAW adjustments. Not great CA results, but much better than what follows with Aurora HDR. Results of Luminar 3 CA:
Then I decided to "Open In > Aurora HDR". That seems to reopen the RAW file without any Luminar edits done above.
Upon opening, I chose the CA Reduction option.
Then a quick selection of Warm Landscape gives me CA like this:
Then if I try to remove all the magenta CA I get a really bad blue CA--also bad green CA elsewhere in the image:
I'm wondering if this is a known problem. Or I need to edit my workflow (ie. save the image as a Tiff before opening in Aurora). Or Aurora HDR doesn't tone map well. Or I've just found some of the limitations regarding the software.
I hoping to have this figured out during my Trial time. Thanks a bunch!
Example of both magenta and green CA, sliders only can help one or the other but still look terrible.
