Well, this is a nice one. We paid our money to get Luminar in perpetuity - not like that nasty Adobe model. That was the agreement. Now Luminar 4 is going to appear and we have to pay again. But we are blandly told we can stick with Luminar 3 if we wish and there will be upgrades - not as good as Luminar 4 and not enough to make it work. Currently we have a program that is slow beyond belief and now, I suspect, will never be improved. Why throw programming time after a dead loss program?
So we will be seduced again and pay for Luminar 4 for there will be all sorts of inducements. It is starting to sound like a slightly different form of the Adobe payment model. In another year or so there will be a paid upgrade to Luminar 5 and so on while we are stupid enough to keep paying. Maybe by Luminar 6 we will have a program that works as well as Lightroom does now.
On 1 Photo Raw is looking better by the second. Incidentally, the free Olympus Workspace is better than Luminar in many ways but without the silly AI non bells and non whistles. I give up on Luminar now.
