Luminar 4 and Luminar Flex
Hello,
I purchased Luminar 2018 with the expectation of a DAM. That never happened and a free update to Luminar 3 gave a DAM...or at least a basic file browser.
Luminar Flex came next as a way to use the power of Luminar from an existing DAM or editor. Nice if you need a DAM since L3 was not adequate. however with the next released of Luminar and FLEX it made it sound like you have to choose one or the other (you don't get both) and in order to use Luminar with another application you would NEED Flex going forward.
Now with the announcement of Luminar 4 in the fall with Sky Replacement AI, will that feature (and all other L4 features) port to FLEX?
I feel at this time Luminar will not have an advanced enough DAM. I am [still] using Aperture and LOVE the DAM and editing capabilities HOWEVER Catalina in the fall means i CANNOT use Aperture anymore. So, perhaps Photos will be enough/better than Luminar's DAM. so, can I get the feature from Luminar 4 in a Luminar FLEX 2019/2020 or how will that work?
Thanks in advance

Hi Brian,
Luminar 4 is considered as an upgrade for both Luminar 3 and Luminar Flex. All the special features that Flex has now will be included in Luminar 4, which you will be able to use both as a standalone and a plugin or extension. The brand-new AI-powered features like AI Sky Replacement will be unique to Luminar 4.
We'll continue to support Flex and Luminar 3 in terms of performance and compatibility. -
So then what will be the difference between L4 and Flex?
I thought L3 and Flex were about the same but was told with the next major update the stand-alone Luminar would NOT include extensions and that is what Flex would be. You’d have to decide in the future if you wanted libraries with Luminar or Luminar extensions with Flex
I haven’t been able to use Luminar since I bought it for the DAM I was told it would have with Luminar 2018. I’m on my path to purchase a third photo dam/editing program and as of yet Luminar 4 only has one feature and the DAM feature I was told the program I bought would have isn’t even noted.
