I have been critical of the progress Skylum has been making regarding the introduction of a DAM. Today's download of the latest issue makes me much happier. I tried importing two images to a folder and it did what it was supposed to do. Once I recover from the shock I will import the 15000 images I have from a recent trip and hope that it will breakdown the import by month and day. We shall see. Even month would be good!
Meanwhile the start time for the program is still slow. 48 seconds to get to an image, but there are 680Gb of raw images in the folder and sub folders. Perhaps it would be quicker with fewer images? Lightroom takes 20 seconds on this 3.5Ghz, 16Gb, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics, all SSD computer. The images are on a E: drive. It would be interesting to know about any tweaks which could speed things up?
The other thing that seems to work now is the adjustment panel on the right which I set up for Raw development. It now seems to be in memory after saving my layout as a Luminar Look. I hadn't previously figured this out!
So things are looking up, which is just as well for I was about to transfer my allegiance to Affinity Photo. So congratulations to Skylum for getting Luminar close to be a viable replacement for Lightroom. I'm starting to become a believer.
