3.0.2 Upgrade First Impressions
The good
Installed upgrade with no issues. Can see that performance has improved to a great degree. I no longer experience color changes when moving from a single full screen photo to the next or from library to edit. Those were my two biggest beefs (minus keyword search capability). Although I haven't tried it, selecting 3 photos and shipping to Aurora HDR is a bit plus.
The not so good
Although the performance has improved, going from one full screen image to the next still causes a hesitation while adjustments are executed. This is how a family member/client would view a shoot vs. in a multiple picture view in library mode. Don't know how that can be improved though as that is the design and I like the fact that originals are stored and adjustments separately vs. held hostage in a proprietary library.
The bad
Some of my ratings got trashed. Assume new ones will stay OK at least until next upgrade. This sort of corruption has happened with keywords multiple times with Apple Photos upon an upgrade. A DAM needs to be bullet proof! The other thing is that my top of the line MacBook Pro with the 2.9GHz i9 chip and 32GBs of RAM is working really hard going from one photo to the next....fan blasting. Wonder how older MacBooks would fare doing the same thing.
Conclusion
At this point I am not dumping Luminar as have other folks losing patience. One of the Luminar 2018 video reviews I watched that was praising the software's features mentioned that the DAM was coming. Her personal view was that it would take at least a year for software as complex as a brand new DAM to wring out all the bugs. She was planning to wait that long before looking at Luminar with Libraries as a permanent replacement for Lightroom, if at all. I hate the Adobe subscription model, which is one of the main reasons I would like to see Skylum succeed here.
I will continue to follow that photographer's expectations and am as a result using Luminar to only import my new DSLR raw images. Am trying really hard to do all edits in that software, but still feel the need to go to Affinity Photo for precise selections and fine edits. Be nice to have a round trip retaining history. Only storing new images, not trying to migrate everything. When done with a shoot, will open 5 star photos in Apple Photos and then keyword adjust, hoping that I can move those keywords to Luminar 3 later. Opening multiple images in Apple Photos from Luminar 3 was very slow, but better than exporting and then importing. Haven't tried doing this again with upgrade to see if there would be an improvement. My iPhone pics will go directly to Apple Photos and then I will use plug-in to Luminar 3 for editing.
Thanks to the Skylum crew for making improvements. Think there is a long way to go both in terms of stability and feature additions, but I am appreciate your current efforts.

@Alina The update completely removed all my ratings and edits and zeroed out the image counts on all image folders on the second launch of Luminar. Could not get anything back. Exit and relaunch Luminar and it rebuilt my catalog restoring all image counts on the image folders, but the ratings and edits are gone. While I did notice some improvements in speed and user experience, the fact that I lost my entire catalog is a huge problem. I'm not the only one with this issue.
I have restored back to previous version for now.

@Bruce Thanks for your quick feedback. We need more info to investigate the issue.
Please send us your catalog:
- Locate your Luminar Catalog folder. The default location is %username%\Pictures\. If you specified a custom location for your catalog, search your custom location.
- Right-click the Luminar Catalog folder > click Compress and wait for the process to finish.
- Send us the .zip file you created in Step 2. We recommend a free service WeTransfer for that.
If you can recall, it would help us a lot if you could tell us which folders were added to your Luminar Catalog and where they were located: on an internal or external drive. You can make a screenshot of the filesystem, for example.
Send us all the info to support@skylum.com -
@Nastia Do you want a copy of the catalog before updating, after updating, or both?
To see the steps I've gone through, see my latest post in this thread: https://community.skylum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360041590171-Updated-Luminar-to-version-3-0-2-and-lost-all-my-edits-and-ratings
