Hey there! :)
I ran in problems while working with Luminar 3. Sometimes my displays started to flicker and few seconds later Luminar isn't responding anymore and shutting down.
In Windows error logs I found messages regarding errors with Nvidia OpenGL. I first thought it happens because the system tries to switch between integrated and dedicated graphics card, so I set Nvidia up to only use GPU for Luminar.
This seemed to work for many hours, but few minutes ago it happened again. I went to the logs and studied the error messages again and did some research and it turned out, that it is a problem with Windows and the GPU.
There is a function in Windows called TDR (Timeout Detection and Recovery). When Windows detects, the GPU takes longer than expected to complete a task, it resets the hardware to make sure Windows stays responding.
The default timeout is set to 2 seconds. It can be raised by making changes in the Windows Registry. I added a link with the steps you have to follow to change the timeout counter.
The guide is for Vista and 7 but it works in Windows 10 as well.
Because this is a global adjustment in Windows, it is unimportant which graphics card manufacturer you use.
Hope I could help one or another. :)
