Luminar 3 starting very slowly

    Hi Neil,

    I'm sorry that you're still experiencing performance issues with the update. Please send the following to support@skylum.com so we can investigate the issue:

    Please send us your catalog:

     

    1. Locate your Luminar Catalog folder. The default location is C:\Users\%username%\Pictures\. If you specified a custom location for your catalog, search your custom location.
    2. Create a .zip file out of the Luminar Catalog folder. Click here if you need help with that.
    3. Send us the .zip file you created in Step 2. We recommend a free service WeTransfer for that.

    If you can recall, it would help us a lot if you could tell us which folders were added to your Luminar Catalog and where they were located: on an internal or external drive. You can make a screenshot of the filesystem, for example.

    We'll need the following information for troubleshooting:

    1. Download this application: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3pf15jdigd0mgt4/ViewHID.exe.zip?dl=0
    2. Launch it.
    3. Copy the HID1 and HID2 codes from the application's window and send them to us.

    Thank you for your help.

    Another person at Skylum suggested the problem might be that the catalogue was stored on the NAS drive and I should delete it and recreate it ensuring it was stored on the local PC drive.

    I searched all drives for catalogues, deleted them and restarted Luminar 3 which started quickly. I then created a Library and added Albums such as 2019, 2018 etc. I then added in Folders against the relevant album, i.e. January, February etc.

    \ added approximately 3500 photo's this way and the start up time for the program is now less than 10 seconds with pictures being shown.

    I am now back in love with Luminar and singing its praises again.

    Hi, my experience is, that it's not about the images in the catalog, it's about the generated thumbnails:

    All I can say Erwin is that with the Catalogue held away from the PC running Luminar the program was unusable as it took over 20 minutes to load and never quite displayed all the thumbnails.

    By deleting all the old catalogues and reinstalling them as I said above, but locally, the program now starts very quickly and displays all the images correctly with no issues at all.
