Multiple versions of an image?
Hi,
I have an original image that I would like to edit multiple different ways and to keep the nondestructive edits for each version.
In Aperture, this was quite easy - duplicate the original image inside the app and it created a secondary meta-version that did not take up disk space but allowed multiple versions of the same image to coexist simultaneously.
How do I do this in Luminar 3?
Thanks,

I believe this is on the roadmap. Possibly to be seen in the January/February update?
For now, you can always make a duplicate copy of the original image with a variant name and you'll get the same effect. Granted, you'll also eat up some disk space doing it...

It sounds as though you want.to make "virtual copies" of your images so you can edit them differently and either export all of them or choose between them. Luminar has listed this functionality as something coming in a future update, but not available right now. You can see another discussion of this request here:

Thanks - that's helpful. I guess for now, I'll make manual copies of the original image - not ideal, but it will let me accomplish what I'm trying to do. To me, this is one of the main advantages to non-destructive editing, so I hope this feature comes out sooner rather than later. From a technology point of view, it's all just meta data so it's not hard to implement.

Hi Mark,
It likely won't be in the next update, but we are working on it. It is planned for later this year. https://skylum.com/luminar/roadmap

Hi. I'm a new user, found it very unintuitive that I couldn't find a 'virtual copies/versions' method whilst I'm playing, particularly since the software is so 'fun and experimental', so it would be nice to keep versions as I experiment.
I also can't find a way to duplicate an original image from the 'library' or 'file' menu, and have to go back to Windows Explorer.
To be clear, I'm not complaining, but I'd love this feature. Thanks
