Luminar 3 Unusable
After first installation, the photos folder structure appeared correctly from my external drive, but remained grayed out and would not import photos. Finally I got my photos to appear, but the app would crash when I attempted to edit or just scroll through the photos. Now I could no longer open it. I have deleted the app and all the supporting files that I could find and re-installed. Now the app attempts to launch and immediately quits. I am running a late 2012 MBP Retina with 16gb and more than enough free space on both internal and external drives where my photos are stored. I have sent crash reports to Skylum, but with the huge amounts of complaints, I don't expect a response very soon. I have used Aperture since the beginning, which still works reliably, had a lightroom subscription for two years, own Affinity photo and tried just about every commercial and open source editor. Though didn't care for most of them compared to Luminar 2018 tool set and simple UI, but at least they were all stable, including Luminar 2018 on this machine.
I patiently waited for the Luminar 3 Catalog with the expectation that though it would be no match for Aperture's DAM, at least it would be solid. What we have here is a product that is not ready for commercial release. I and many others have requested to beta test, but was rejected by Skylum as their beta testing was closed. I believe this could have prevented the problems we are now seeing upon release. As I have spent one year with Luminar 18, I know it very well and find it intuitive and a pleasure to use, I do not want to use anything else. So don't be concerned with adding any more features until this becomes a solid product that can be used with confidence.

We will be improving performance and stability in the upcoming months: we are aware that there's a lot of work that still needs to be done. We'll release an update addressing performance and stability in the end of January - beginning of February. There will also be a hotfix for the most urgent issues we have discovered so far by the end of December.
