    Hi Erwin,

I'm not sure I understand the issue.

Are you requesting that Luminar make the crop tool setting default to the last used setting, or is it switching from Original to 1:1 without making the selection from the dropdown?

    Hi Angela,

it´s both. It´s about reporting a bug and having a feature request.

    Here in Screenshots the bug

First time crop Tool opening has "Original" without making a selection:

Than make any crop out of the aspect selection to the image, click "Done" ...

Second Time crop Tool opening (same picture!!!) has "1:1" without making a selection:

    And now the feature request

I think, it would be good Luminar remembers last settings used. LR handels those things like this as well.

    Thanks

    Erwin

    Hi Erwin,

I will certainly pass your suggestion to our developers that that crop tool remember the last settings used. In the meantime we need to be able to reproduce the issue on our end in order to understand at which point it occurs. Please email us at support@skylum.com with a link to this thread and a detailed step-by-step description of what you do in the software before encountering the issue. You can also make a screen recording. You can use Monosnap to record your screen: https://monosnap.com/welcome

If the issue occurs when you're working on an image, send us the image file. Here's how:

    1. Visit https://wetransfer.com/
    2. If it's your first time visiting this website, it may ask you to purchase a subscription. Simply select to proceed with the free version.
    3. Click Add your files.
    4. Select the file(s) on your computer.
    5. After you see all the files you need to send appear in the list, click the icon to the left of the Transfer button (the icon looks like a circle with three dots in it).
    6. In Send As select Link.
    7. Click Transfer.
    8. After the files have finished uploading, click Copy Link and paste it into your email.

In order for us to directly track this issue, please send us your HIDE code:

    1. Download this application: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xz3p1hi2ze6j50x/ViewIDE.exe?dl=0
    2. Launch it.
    3. Copy the HIDE code from the application's window and send it to us.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I'd like to add to that too. The cropping tool needs to be able to remember a user's preferred default settings. I rarely use a standard crop ratio, nearly always using a free crop. I also use the 'thirds' grid mostly too.

But every time I open the crop tool I have to select the padlock and grid to change them to my preferred settings. As mentioned, either let it remember the last used settings, or allow a preference setting to change the defaults.

    Thanks

    Andy.

this issue with the cropping tool defaulting to 1:1 and sometimes other formats as well. i started with the original 4:6 and cropped the image, then went back to the crop tool and it changed to 3:2. i reset this to the original ratio and did it again, this time it changed to 1:1 !   this is on version 4.3 by the way. clearly luminar have done nothing to address this annoying cliche, as i understand this happens in Luminar 3 as well.

    Hi Ian,

I can confirm that the issue is present both in 4.3.0 and 3.2.0.

I regret to inform you that we have no ETA for this fix right now.

If it's a deal-breaker for you, please contact us at https://skylum.com/support. We'll see what we can do for you.

I totally agree with Erwin and others. Why doesn't Skylum just fix it. When I'm cropping a picture I need 'FREE' not a set ratio. So every time I crop I have an extra click to make. So boring!
