    Hi Everyone,

HEIC files are supported only in the Mac version of Luminar 4.

Regarding Windows platform, we'll definitely consider changing this situation in the future, however, for now, there's no ETA for that. Please, stay tuned!

    Hi Roman,

For now, our main priority is the Photo Library implementation.

As far as we release it we will reconsider the possibility of adding this functionality on Windows.

    Your understanding is highly appreciated.

    Hi Anna,

Thanks for a quick response. Not a big problem for me, I was just wandering if perhaps I was doing something wrong. Glad to hear you guys are concentrating on the Library, looking forward to see the functionality.

"As far as we release it we will reconsider the possibility of adding this functionality on Windows."

It's comments like this from support people that still make me question the promised goal of Windows / Mac parity. If parity is the goal why is this something that would have to be considered??

    Hi Guy!

Please note that it is not about us, as developers who don't implement some features on the Windows version of the apps. There are some specifics of the OS which don't allow us to do that. Regarding HEIC format, it is not fully supported on Windows OS at the moment. This way, as soon as it is, we will work on it as well.

Hi, I'm using the new Luminar 3 and still no HEIC support on Windows.

This is important because HEIC is the default format of iPhone pictures (I have a bunch of them already), and some of your competitors have started to support HEIC. HEIC on Windows would be a good marketing point.

Hi, I would also appreciate HEIC file support, because all my wife's pictures, shot with her iPhone, are missing in the library on my Windows version of Luminar :-(. Actually I don't understand why Apple always wants to be different from the rest, it always causes problems for their users.

Hope you can fix this soon, best regards.

    Hello,
Any news regarding HEIC support on Windows? It seems that this format is now supported by Windows without any third party app!

    Hi,

Most likely, the initial release of Luminar 4 on Windows will be missing this functionality since here are some tech difficulties with the implementation of HEIC files compatibility. Nevertheless, our techs will be working hard to launch its support in one of the following releases. We'll keep you guys posted.

Windows 10 now supports HEIC/HEIF natively.

I purchased Luminar 4 because of the Cross OS support, but if there is no feature parity and HEIC is not supported on Windows...….

    Dear Luminar team,

Luminar 4 has been out for 19 days and still no HEIC image support. I am using iMazing HEIC Converter to convert HEIC images from my iPhone to JPG prior to importing them into Luminar 3 and 4. Any update on support for this file format would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Can you please add HEIC support on the Windows version as soon as possible. This is a deal breaker for me.

    Hi Member,

I'll let our team know that this is a deal-breaker for you so that the priority of the feature could be increased. However, right now, there's still no ETA.

Hi. Just adding my voice to the many that need HEIC support on Windows.

I've just spent days and days figuring out how to get my iCloud photos organised on Windows the way I like* only to now find I can't see many of my photos. It is *really* upsetting! So now I'm going to have to check out Lightroom (etc). Bummer...

*exiftool was required. Apple just can't export with YY/MM/DD?!?! Heck Aperture could, but not Photos. Totally dumb. Feels like they're trying a little too hard to lock me into their ecosystem.

HEIC/HEIF support is a must, and it's not really acceptable, that you still do not support the formats (standard formats, not Apple specific).

As I see it, Apple macOS supports HEIC/HEIF as well as RAW formats "natively", but also in Windows 10, the user can install (paid install - 1 USD???) codecs to allow windows to support the formats. You'll just have to wake up to fact, or...?

The current state is not acceptable at all.

Please Skylum, do the job, support HEIC on Windows!

Since a year, I only shoot photos in HEIC format and I have to always use another tool that Luminar because of the lack of this function in Luminar. It's very irritating!

    Dear Skylum,

I just want to say that you really should implement HEIF compatibility within Luminar 4 for Windows 10 users! Especially because Microsoft has released official Windows 10 support of the same files in 2018.

    More here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/heif-image-extensions/9pmmsr1cgpwg#activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Some people use iPhones as their cameras and shooting in HEIF gives better results. But not all iPhone users use Macs.

Please also consider this topic when releasing future products like LuminarAI and more...

    Thank you!

Thank you Fran Brisar for your comment !!!!

For a lot of people, including me, the support of  HEIC/HEIF natively is a must.
More than 2 years ago Skylum told us, that Windows does not fully supoport this.

Now after the official support in Windows 10 it is time to implemement this soon and not later than in Luminar AI in 3-4 months.
Without the support of HEIC/HEIF for me and may be for a lot of other people it makes no sense to buy Luminmar AI.
So I will stay with Luminar 4 until HEIC/HEIF will be implemented.

Absolutely agree! HEIC/HEIF is essential! I bought Luminar without checking the fine print and really regret it. Haven't used it since discovering it won't touch my iPhone photos. C'mon guys! It can't be that hard!?

Hi Roman Augustyn, as a person who uses photos a lot these days for some of my projects I can recommend that you use https://www.converter365.com/image-converter/heic/heic-to-png
I am using it for some time now and I can easily say that it simple and it works perfectly. Cheers!
