I was a very happy Aperture user until Apple decided to drop it. I then switched to Photos. I like the features that Luminar offers, but integration with Photos is cumbersome.
My workflow is as follow: import photos from camera into Photos. Do some basic editing in Photos and then user Luminar as an external editor. Apply some presets or filters, save changes and return to Photos. Seems simple enough, but when I re-open the photo in Luminar, there is no editing history (of course).
I considered two options: Go to edit mode in Photos, send picture for editing to Luminar, when In Luminar save a Luminar format photo and return to Photos. This does not work, as the plug-in version of Luminar does not have any Save or Export options (except to Photos).
I then tried to send to picture from Photos to Luminar while not in editing mode, but overview mode. Then the photo is sent to Luminar and I can save it in propriety Luminar format, but there is no way back. The connection between Photos and Luminar is lost when opening a photo this way. Luminar does not behave as a plugin but a s stand-alone application.
What would be the recommended flow if I want to save the history of my changes?
