OpenGL 3.3 and Later is Required
Pinned FeaturedIf you are receiving the “OpenGL 3.3 and later is required for this application to run” error message when launching Aurora HDR 2018 1.2.0, please make sure your machine meets the minimum requirements listed here.
If you are not sure whether or not your GPU supports Open GL 3.3 or above, please refer to its manufacturer's website. If your model does support Open GL 3.3 and above, updating your graphics driver will fix this issue.
Automatically update AMD Graphics Drivers
Automatically update NVIDIA Graphics Drivers
After you have updated your GPU Driver from the manufacturer’s website, make sure you set your discrete adapter to run Aurora 2018 by default. Refer to your card's manufacturer's website if you need help with that.
If your computer is 5 or more years old, there is a possibility that your GPU does not support Open GL 3.3
There are several solutions if your system supports a version of OpenGL that is lower than 3.3.
Solution 1. Hardware upgrade.
All modern graphics cards have support for OpenGl 3.3 out of the box, and all the latest software puts increasingly high requirements for hardware configuration of your computer. If you want to enjoy the latest and the most powerful software packages, a hardware upgrade might be in order.
Solution 2. Use the previous version of Aurora.
You can download Aurora that has support for older graphics cards here:

Hallo,
I have the same problem. I guess, like many others. The older version still works, but i can't use newer versions of Luminar 2018. Therefore, the use of the older version can only be a temporary solution in my oppinion.
My question is: When will you release a new version that fixes the problem?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Bosse,
Could you please specify what graphics card you have on your computer?
That's how you can check this info or send it to us and we will check it for you:
- Press the Windows logo key + R.
- Type msinfo32 in the dialog box that opens and hit Enter on your keyboard.
- In the window that opens, make sure you have System Summary highlighted on the left.
- Click File > Export.
- Type the name of the file and save it somewhere where you can easily find it and attach this text file to your reply to this email.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
-
Hi Bosse, sorry for not mentioning it, but have you sent the file to support@skylum.com?
-
Hi Julia,
thanks for your question. I have use the wrong email-adress. Second try...now i have use support@skylum.com.
-
Thanks, we'll respond to your email asap. In the meantime, what do you mean by 'won't initialize'? If you're having trouble starting the installer there are a few alternatives we can try. For that I'd recommend moving our conversation over to email, since it would be easier for us to track your case this way.

Sorry guys I am not savvy as some of you. The last line says Type the name of the file? Name of which file are we talking about. Your instructions are not clear to me. Please help.
-
Hi Shailesh,
That line of the instructions is referring to saving the file created when you go to File > Export. In this step you are saving the msinfo32 file with a file name that makes sense to you and in a location you can easily find and email to us at support@skylum.com.

I'm having this issue now after downloading the trial of Luminar and Aurora. I want to buy both, but I'm glad I waited to use the trial first. The OpenGL utility says i'm 3.3, so I don't understand the problem. I've followed the instructions and sent all the info to the support email, but I'm surprised there isn't more troubleshooting in this thread. It seems to be a common problem. I've used many intense audio recording and editing programs, Lightroom, Photoshop, Sony Vegas, etc...not sure why these programs are giving me this error. I meet all the specs.

@CRU, if you've already submitted your system summary for review via support@skylum.com, one of our team members will get back to you as soon as possible. We'll look into it for you.

Hi Bari,
Please reach out to us at www.skylum.com/support and we'll take a look at this and get you back up and running as quickly as possible.

If none of the solutions above fix the issue, you can try the following steps:
-
Check if your GPU supports Open GL 3.3 or higher. You can do this by visiting the manufacturer's website and searching for your GPU model. If your GPU does not support Open GL 3.3 or higher, there is not much you can do other than upgrading your GPU.
-
If your GPU does support Open GL 3.3 or higher, try updating your graphics driver. You can find instructions for updating your graphics driver above.
-
If you have updated your graphics driver and the issue persists, try setting your discrete adapter to run Aurora 2018 by default. Refer to your GPU manufacturer's website for instructions on how to do this.
-
If none of the above solutions fix the issue, you may want to try using an older version of Aurora that supports older graphics cards. You can find a link to download an older version of Aurora above.
If you have tried all of the above solutions and are still experiencing the error, you may want to try reaching out to the Aurora HDR 2018 support team for further assistance. They may be able to provide more specific guidance based on your specific system and configuration.
