Aurora HDR crashes.
AnsweredA warm greeting. After previously using Aurora HDR (version 1.0.0.2550) without problems, today there are repeated crashes of the software, just before opening the HDR picture (Final touches to make it awesome). I tried both with original pictures (.CR2) of my Canon EOS2000D and with the same images converted to .PNG. I wait for your suggestions to solve the problem. Thank you.

Hi Franco,
This is probably something you may want to discuss in deeper detail with tech support; in the meantime we can try and do some extra troubleshooting:
1) are you getting an error message at all? Or does Aurora quietly closes and this is it?
2) what is your graphic card? Be aware that Aurora's track record with hardware acceleration has been kind of questionable, I myself had to partially disable some advanced features in order for Aurora not to crash my Nvidia driver. More recently, some people with the newer Intel Iris chipsets had to temporarily turn off hardware acceleration as a whole.
3) Fellow Canon shooter here. CR2 support in Aurora is...adequate, but not 100% flawless even for cameras that should have native support. I don't normally work with PNGs unless I'm at the end of the workflow, you could, however, try and check if exporting your photos to 16bit TIFFs or, better yet, to Adobe's DNG raw format gets you to the end of the HDR compositing with no crashes.
Supported cameras:
Adobe free DNG converter:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/adobe-dng-converter.html
(Adobe Camera RAW also works, btw)
Hope this helps. Kindest regards,

Hello Franco Marcotullio,
I checked your camera model and looks like it is not supported by Aurora HDR. Thus it might crash if you try to merge RAW HDR brackets. You can convert your RAW photos to DNG using the converter kindly provided by Marco above. Can you please try how it works with DNG photos instead? Thank you

Hi Marco. Thank you so much for the quick response.
1) Aurora HDR closes without error messages during Final touches to make...etc
2) My graphics card is NVIDIA Geforce GT630.
3) In the past, with the pictures .CR2, Aurora HDR elaborated a purple picture, or pink, I don’t remember. I solved searching for similar cases in the Skylum community and downloading Adobe DNG Converter, which worked well with Aurora in the software test. But today I have the problems I described. I don’t think I changed any parameters during the previous elaborations, maybe I searched among the supported lens my Tokina 11-16, and not finding it, I chose a different one. That’s probably not what caused the crashes, that’s all I can think of.
I tried with jpeg pictures bracketing, but Aurora HDR still crashed.
Thanks again for your help. -
