Cataloging and plug in workaround with Luminar AI
Since Luminar AI doesn’t perform most digital asset management tasks, cataloging and sorting, it’s necessary to use another program to that end, often Lightroom or Photos, and then hand off the selected photos to Luminar AI by means of the plug in.
I have an issue with this, and a workaround.
The issue is the plug in works with the photos one at a time and without full nondestructive functionality. The workaround is to export a group of selected photos to another folder and let the full Luminar AI app do its magic on these. You gain the ability to undo changes and the ability to sync edits and templates across selected groups of photos (batch processing). This is missing in the plug in. After Luminar is done editing, the photos can be exported into a folder and then added to Lightroom or Photos, with the appropriate flags. Unlike the plug in, you retain the ability to go back and undo/redo edits to your heart’s content. Luminar retains its vital nondestructive nature.
