Luminar Ai - Reintroduces a Luminar 4 Erase/Clone & Stamp Export Bug - So Apparently not a "Complete Re-write"
AnsweredLuminar 4 had an export bug which was highly disruptive to a smooth workflow/ creative user experience due to the disruption exporting individual edits. This was described in detail here after much testing and checking:
Unfortunately, this bug took Skylum many weeks to fix but is now reintroduced in this first release of Luminar AI.
So MAJOR points supporting the conclusion outlined in the post title.
There is a repeatable bug in Luminar AI which is a the same as a previous bug in Luminar 4 (but was eventually fixed)
Luminar AI therefore appears not to be a complete "ground up" rewrite as promoted by many (I am looking at several prominent Skylum Ambassadors/Youtubers who gain from a commission, much as I enjoy your posts you know who you are and you should be more careful!).
This conclusion is supported by:
The export functionality looks exactly the same (GUI) as Luminar 4
It is just as slow as Luminar 4
The "Progress Window" counts from 0 instead of 1 in a batch export, so has the same error as Luminar 4 (not a big issue but shows lack of attention to detail/errors)
Final thoughts:
Lack of usable batch exporting severely impacts on a smooth workflow of editing many images from a photo session with minimal interruption to the creative process as each image has to be exported, each export taking a significant time thus disrupting the creative thought process. (BTW why do other competitor editing programs export so much more quickly?)
The lack of a Star Rating or Colour Coding in the DAM exacerbates the problem as previously edits that would not properly batch export could easily be flagged and filtered in the library mode. Although this was a far from optimal solution it enabled a smoother workflow.
Why don't Skylum open up Beta testing to more experienced/committed users who have taken the time and effort to provide detailed information/bug reports on previous issues in order to best help THEMSELVES (Skylum) provide a better experience to all end users when software is released?
A "Ground Up" rewrite of the export functionality to address errors and speed appears to be an imperative.

Anastasia, Thank you for your reply. Just to let you know this is a problem in exporting both from the catalogue view and when selecting multiple images for export in the thumbnail strip in the edit view. Although all likely the same bug.
As for the DAM/rating issue I have a realtively speedy workaround other Luminar users may find helpful by using the free photo viewer/editor IrfanView for culling and allocating a new batch of photos to a set of Star Rated Folders (e.g. a folder named 2 STARS as a subfolder of the main photo folder. In IrfanView use the F7 key in either main view or thumbnail view (press T in main view to bring up thumbnail view). This brings up a dialog allowing moving the photo or selected photos (in thumbnail view) to a named folder by pressing the associated number key on the keyboard (e.g. 3 for 3 STARS or 0 for a discard/no edit folder - or you can just delete the photo in IrfanView). You can then see all the photos in the main folder or pick individual sub folders in Luminar 4 or AI. (BTW the F* key allows copying in exactly the same way rather than moving).
I WOULD RECCOMEND DOING THIS BEFORE THE FOLDERS ARE IMPORTED/ADDED TO LUMINAR TO AVOID POTENTIAL DATABASE ISSUES
Alternatively and perhaps more simply (or if, after editing of a photo you wish to change the rating) photos can be dragged & dropped in the Luminar 4 or AI catalogue view to the appropriate star rating sub folder. The advantage of using IrfanView is being able to instantly view and zoom on individual photos rather than the slower process of loading them individually into the edit view in Luminar to inspect them in detail to determine the appropriate rating before moving them o the subfolders

Hi! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Inded, there is a bug with an export from the catalog view. We are working on it so to fix it asap.
As for the star rating, LuminarAI is not designed to be a place where you organize your images and store them for a long period of time. Rather you are encouraged to develop the images you need and then export them when your images are complete. The catalog is designed to help you quickly find the images you want to edit and to apply those edits to multiple images.
