    Hi Barry,

Please try opening the plugin in the following way:

    1. Open a photo in Aurora.
    2. Click Plugins >  Other > Open Plugin.
    3. Navigate to the folder where your copy of Luminar 4 is installed. By default, it's C:\Program Files\Skylum\Luminar 4
    4. Double-click Luminar4.8bf. Luminar 4 should open as a plugin in Aurora.

Here is the video tutorial that may also be helpfulhttps://www.loom.com/share/9a51a3854d4f4c79b970a498f048a539

Ok. So I have Luminar now in the Aurora app.
I select the Luminar plugin, Aurora exports the file.
It does not appear in Luminar
Is the file exported to another directory?
    Would appreciate your help.

This procedure works for me: 1) open photo in Aurora HDR, select Plugins and choose Luminar. Photo exports to Luminar. 2) make my edits, hit Apply and photo returns to Aurora HDR.

Please make sure that Luminar is not running in the background when you use the plugin version of the app.

Let us know how it goes.

1.Luminar not running in the background.
    2. Open photo in aurora.
    3. Process photo.
    4. Select plugin - Luminar.
    5. Aurora shows dialogue box "exporting image"
    6. Open Luminar. Nothing imported into Luminar
Luminar sometimes locks or simply disappears or images appear with exclamation marks.

Re Step 6: you do not open Luminar manually. Selecting the plugin from Aurora causes Luminar to open with your photo. If you have a slow machine, give it a little time.

    Thanks Roy,

This is the issue. Exporting the image from Aurora does not cause Luminar to open, even if I wait 5 minutes.

    Any ideas?

Programs are running on  AMD Ryzen 5 3066 6core, M/B X570 Auros Elite, 16 MB RAM (and 8 VRAM.)

With both apps running plus all the Windows stuff RAM use is only 50%

Bring up Task Manager and check if Luminar is running but not visible. End task if it is. Also, be sure you are running the latest version of Luminar (4.3.0 v6886).

I notice that if I export an image from aurora it is saved as a jpeg but if I have the image the file extension .aug is not recognised by Luminar

Only Aurora HDR can save and open .auh files. An auh file saves all your editing history.

    Thanks for the information, Roy.
But I still have 2 programs that don't work together.
Do you have any other suggestions or guidance?

This is exactly what is happening to me. I've tried all of this nothing fixes the issue Barry Have you heard back from support?

I have not. Not sure how Skylum can make software that does not do what it is supposed to do. Period!

They have proposed various solutions, none of which have worked unfortunately. Am waiting for further ideas.

All I've been advised hasn't worked so far. Awaiting a definitive solution. Will let you know if a fix is forthcoming. Seems to work for others out of the box.

    Hi Barry,

At this point, we would appreciate the screen recording of the issue. I can see that it was previously requested by my colleagues in the email conversation. You can access Monosnap controls in the taskbar (see the screenshot: http://prntscr.com/vd6m3b and http://prntscr.com/vd6mmt)

If you're uncomfortable with Monosnap, you can use a built-in game bar (see method 2:here: https://atomisystems.com/screencasting/record-screen-windows-10/)

Here's how you can send us the file with the recording:

    1. Visit https://wetransfer.com/
    2. If it's your first time visiting this website, it might ask you to purchase a subscription. Simply select to proceed with the free version.
    3. Click Add your files.
    4. Select the file(s) on your computer.
    5. After you see all the files you need to send appear in the list, click the icon to the left of the Transfer button (the icon looks like a circle with three dots in it).
    6. In Send As select Link.
    7. Click Transfer.
    8. After the files have finished uploading, click Copy Link and paste it into your support request.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Just for the record and to close my thread. Skylum have proposed various ways in which to resolve the problem. I have uploaded video recordings and sent files as requested so that they can see what's going on but they are unable to suggest any technical explanation or solution. I have been offered the option of a refund for Aurora or a free download of one of the image packs.

Barry. Did you try this? It came from support on my ticket
This finally worked for me with getting the luminar 4 plugin to work.

If  you do have either PS or PSE, please perform the following:

    1. Ensure that PSE, PS, Aurora, and Luminar are closed. Right-click the Luminar 4 icon > Run As Administrator.
    2. Click File > Install Plugins.
    3. Click Uninstall next to Photoshop.
    4. Reboot your PC.
    5. Right-click the Luminar 4 icon > Run As Administrator.
    6. Click File > Install Plugins.
    7. Click Install next to Photoshop.

If you don't have Photoshop on your computer, please download and install a trial version of Photoshop first: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/free-trial-download.html and try to perform the steps outlined below.

If after following them you're able to open Luminar as a plugin, you may safely uninstall Photoshop trial from your computer.

      If the issue persists:

      1. Download the plugin file from: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pkcl0ypzx099fal/Luminar4%20%283%29.8bf?dl=0

      2. Open a photo in Aurora.

      3. Click Plugins >  Other > Open Plugin.

      4. Open the file downloaded in step 1.
