Aurora HDR is incompatible with Adobe DNG files (16bit floating point linear DNG HDR files)
AnsweredHDR files (16bit floating point linear DNG files) created in Adobe LightRoom are not compatible with Aurora HDR:
- Adobe LightRoom generated HDR .DNG files are tagged (for whatever reason) with an exposure compensation representing the value of the “darkest” exposed image, in respect to the “middle” exposed image (e.g.: -2 / -4 / -6 / -n EV...)
- Aurora HDR read this exposure compensation and applies the opposite “correction” to the image while loading (opening) it. (e.g.: +2 / +4 / +6 / +n / ...)
The result in Aurora HDR is an unusable +nEV overexposed image, with burned, not recoverable highlights!!
This seems to be a known problem since at least 18.01.2019, and not solved yet (07.2020) in Version 2019 V1.0.0(2550)...???!!!: https://community.skylum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360039378592-Burned-Highlights
Changing the “exposure compensation” value in the DNG file is not a viable option!!!
Aurora HDR is a plug-in for LightRoom. Just make it work! If you need to talk to Adobe, do it!
So many crucial bugs in this software!!

Hi Robert!
Please let me reiterate my colleague's reply to the post you're referring to:
"When Lightroom creates a merge, it writes -2 EV into the exif, even though the merge is properly exposed. Aurora tries to compensate for what it thinks is underexposure, and this results in artifacts. We recommend to check the EV of the merge you send from Lightroom to Aurora and correct it if necessary"
