Hi Pedro. We do not abandon Aurora HDR. Recently we have issued a new update with bug fixes and performance improvements. The implementation of the CR3 files in Aurora HDR is technically more difficult than in Luminar 4. However, our developers are working on the next update of Aurora HDR and we will do our best to implement the CR3 files support.

You are kidding right? :D I would love to believe in you but...I don´t. Sorry. I do understand that you are concentrating your efforts to the luminar instead of Aurora. I am not a Tech guy but from a costumer point of view that is not very nice to hear. You are saying that you are a company that makes photo editing software and after one and half year (EOS R was released in October 2018) you still couldn´t implement CR3 files in one of your....editing software? Wow......

I am sorry but like I said I do like you products even with all its flaws, crashes, slowly speed but....I did payed a lot of money for a program that now I can´t use with my latest cameras. Next month I will change 100% for CR3 files so Aurora will be dead for me. And no, converting files to DNG is NOT the solution. So despite I do like your programs I guess I wont purchase any more software from you guys. No one wants to pay 100€ or more and then get stuck like this after one year or less. Like I said in the post...I do prefer to pay 10€ a month to Adobe, at least after 1 month for max we can work with new photo extensions.

Pay more attention to little details....That is what makes people happy. Well....but for a photo editing software...being able to OPEN photo files is not a little detail.... :D

Hi Pedro. I completely understand your frustration and I apologize for the caused inconvenience.

The .CR3 file format was already implemented in Luminar 3 and Luminar 4. That being said, our dedicated tech team is working around the clock to implement the support of .CR3 file format. There are some technical difficulties, but we are investigating the best way to overcome them. Unfortunately, there is no ETA when the update is going to be released.

I will surely pass your feedback and concerns regarding implementing the .CR3 format to Aurora HDR to the tech team in charge!

Thank you very much for your attention and sympathy! Really appreciated! Ok...so I guess i have to hold and wait...let´s see if you can get over this issue. Like I said, I do like your products, hope you can get over this otherwise I have to move on to another editors. Ohhh... and by the way, if you are going to pass the info, add another note:

1 - When you are editing one photo in Aurora and then want to open the photo in Luminar directly (through the "open in") the program sends you to the skylum page to purchase the Luminar 4....but I have it! :D So it seems it doesn´t recognize the Luminar 4 installed. So, if you want to edit one foto using Aurora and then Luminar, you have to export the photo, close aurora and then open the photo in Luminar. Something´s wrong. With other programs doesn´t happen, for example if I am working with Aurora and then want to change to Photoshop I just need to click in "open in" and select photoshop. Photoshop is open and i continu to edit the file...

    Hi Pedro,

Please try invoking the Luminar 4 plugin in the following way:

    1. Open Finder, click Go > Go to Folder and paste the following path: /Library/Application Support/MacPhun Software/Luminar4/Plug-Ins. There will be a bunch of files in there, the one you're interested in has .plugin extension.
    2. Copy the .plugin file somewhere where you can easily find it.
    3. In Aurora, click Plugins > Other > Open Plugin > point Aurora to the .plugin file you just copied. Luminar should open.

It is quite sad that Skylum doesn't care about this product; aside from this post there is another 2 years old with the same issue...so 2 YEARS later there is still no fix for this issue except to say convert to DNG.  That is not an answer, and the post from Margaret address MAC only (reality check...not everyone uses this software on a MAC).

Please light a fire under the engineers who would rather work on Luminar AI which I have not intention of buying, and fixing Aurora HDR which I have bought!!!!

    Hi Byron,

Please kindly note that this thread is located in Aurora for Mac topic, that is why we post the solutions for Mac users here.

If you need the instructions for Windows, we will be happy to provide them to you. If you wish to open Luminar 4 as a plugin to Aurora HDR on Windows, please try the following solution:

    1. Open a photo in Aurora.
    2. Click Plugins >  Other > Open Plugin.
    3. Navigate to the folder where your copy of Luminar 4 is installed. By default, it's C:\Program Files\Skylum\Luminar 4
    4. Double-click Luminar4.8bf. Luminar 4 should open as a plugin in Aurora.

Hello, so Pedro's note was 9 months ago…!

Is there any resolution in sight to when this issue of CR3's not working would be resolved?

We have this interior project we were counting on HDR Aurora to help. We've switched over to all cameras using the CR3 format…

Any chance this is going to get an update to release support for CR3 files without having to use Luminar 4?

1 Year ago i have made this post above. One year after situation still remains. CR3 is available in Luminar but not on Aurora and I suppose we will NEVER see it on Aurora. Like I have said on my other comments, I consider this to be totally disrespectful to costumers! I will not buy any of your products anymore. We have capture1, DXO and of course ADOBE programs that are WAY BETTER in costumer care. At least they update their programs so we can OPEN a damn file! Most amazing thing is that you are still selling the program advertising that have RAW support!  "-

    RAW support

Aurora HDR gives your Raw photos the best treatment, supporting the most popular cameras and intelligently enhancing every pixel.

Shame on you! You have lost a luminar 4 buyer and a skylum user. And ALL you just needed to do is to add CR3 in Aurora! But no....What you want is money.

    Hello Everyone,

I completely understand your frustration and I know how disturbing this is. We do plan to add CR3 support to Aurora HDR, however, I'm afraid, for now, there's still no timeline for that. Still, every voice counts, and I'll make sure to pass your guys feedback to our developers. I'm pretty sure it might speed up this process.

    Hello Helena

I thank you for your answer, but i have had that answer 1 year ago, so I guess you can understand if I say I don´t believe it. If You engineers can make the most amazing things in "AI" and then they can´t simply add a CR3 to the programs...well something´s wrong here no? Adobe did it, Capture One did it and now DXO Pure RAW will have it. And you guys also have it! Luminar 4 supports also CR3 now.
We all know it´s not easy to program. It´s not easy to make this new raw files "readable", but we cant wait more than 1 year to be able to process files. I can edit my EOS R5 raw files for a long time now in adobe programs, but not in Skylum programs. You just cant make purchases of hundreds of € and then you just can´t open the files and you need to convert to dng. It´s just not acceptable. So, unless you can speed up processes I will just stick to Adobe, at least they upgrade their programas pretty fast!

I believe Aurora is unfinished.  I was sold on batch processing, several features are not incorporated, most importantly for my work ghost removal fails in batch, I forget the other issues atm.  I noticed this bug right away and after mentioning to support they said it was on the list to be addressed, still waiting 2 years later.  I used to promote the software to others, now I avoid using it.  I was hopeful for this product, seems I'm not the only one that lost hope.

Regarding conversion, some of my batches are 500GB+.  Do I really want my computer to be tied up for several hours (guesstimate) to convert on top of the 1-2 days it takes aurora to process that much?

Now that I'm using new Canon cameras I can't use Aurora, is there a software metaphor for paper weight?

When Skylum is ready there is a team of users that can help direct the evolution of Aurora, please listen, it has potential to be great software.

    Hi,

Our development resources for Aurora HDR are currently limited; however, we're doing our best to speed the process up for the introduction of new camera support (including those that generate.CR3 files). If converting .CR3 files to DNG isn't a feasible solution for you now, please contact us at https://skylum.com/support

We'll check what can be arranged for you.

I am saddened to see that Skylum continues to sell a product that doesn't work with current software.  Not supporting upgrades is a bad idea and a failure in customer loyalty destroying the company reputation but selling a product for YEARS that the company knows is not working with current technology  is more than that and I would suggest that people who have bought this product more recently report it to your local states attorney generals consumer protection division.

I think I have purchased everything you've sold. No more. No CR3 on Aurora HDR. You've been making folks wait for YEARS now saying it is coming any day. You are obviously moving on but are not saying so. I will not purchase any more of your products, not because you stopped updating them (Air Magic, Photolemeur) which is fine, but you have told people that you are working on adding CR3 to Aurora HDR when you really, obviously have no intention of doing so. Photomatix pro did it, everyone else did it. Several years from now (or less) you will probably stop supporting Luminar and start a new program that you will have transitioned to and will sell for a "discount". I'm not falling for it. Good bye. AND YOU ARE STILL SELLING AURORA HDR IN CASE ANYONE IS FOOLISH ENOUGH TO BUY IT!!

Just got a new Canon EOS Rebel for Christmas, so excited to use it in Aurora because it's truly the best HDR app out there (can you tell I'm a huge fan?) but it keeps crashing when I try to open my CR3s... and now I find this thread. Whaaa...?

You guys could and should own the market. Luminar AI helps me do in minutes what took me hours in Photoshop (even as a 25+ year veteran), and I have high hopes for Neo, which I pre-purchased when it was first announced. Aurora is awesome and I'd shout it from the hilltops -- if it could support cr3, and if it won't be abandoned. Please please please sell it hard, don't abandon it!
