we are using two Panasonic Lumix cameras for our holiday photography. Since both cameras are roughly the same age and the preset file names are always the same for a camera of the same manufacturer, we regularly run into an issue while exporting the edited files from luminar:
Some photos from cam A will have the same file name as others from cam B. While the photos from cam A have a different subfolder to the ones from cam B. In Luminar database, while browsing and editing the identical file names are not visible. Luminar does not care about identical file names.
Only, my workflow is:
- browse through all the pictures contained in the specified album
- edit the images, that need improvements
- rate the photos
- filter in the entire album all photos with 4+ star rating
- select all
- export all to a definied folder location.
In the last step, you can see the problem. While exporting, Luminar tries to keep the original file name and ALL photos are stored in the one folder. Logically it will now come across some photos where this won't work.
Luminar then stops and asks to
C) keep both.
A) and B) are of course nonsense. I would like Luminar to detect automatically, that both files where to be created with the same batch job and add a suffix to each multiple file name. Maybe with a warning when finishing the export, but not with this irritation inquiry.
C) however is not of great help either, since the batch job will then stop. Maybe it is exporting the one photo were the issue occurred, but it is not completing the batch job anymore. Clearly visible when looking at the number of photos exported: Database shows 1893 photos. Folder only contains 945 photos (just an example).
Can you maybe look into this strange behavior and optimize as soon as possible?
I believe the export feature needs a lot of improvements and feature upgrades, as there are many improvement requests concering this module.
