HEIC import issue Win10

Hi, Just bought Luminar 4.2.0 and realize that it can not load HEIC file on Windows 10!

Any advise, workaround or to return it?

  Hi Rosin,

  Please note that, currently, HEIC files are supported only in the Mac version of Luminar. 

  We'll definitely consider changing this situation in the future, however, for now, there's no ETA for that. 

  We recommend you to install Adobe DNG Converter and convert your files to DNG file format (which is supported by Luminar).

  I just downloaded the DNG conveter from Adobe but got the error "The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files" when I pointed it to my photos taken my iPhone.

  Advise?

  Hi,

  Indeed, my bad!

  Apologies for this misunderstanding! It looks like Adobe DNG Converter cannot convert Heic to DNG yet.

  Maybe you can change the settings on the iPhone to create Jpegs or try the other converter.

  Similar issue, but with the Samsung HEIC format.

  As Samsung is a major manufacturer of android phones I expect this will become an increasing issue.

  Not everyone likes or uses Apple hardware

  This heic-converter does not work with Win10 to convert HEIC to PNG. It makes a big 64 MB file ending in .png and gives a success message but the file is not even viewable in Photos. Luminar 4 does not open it either.

  7 month and still the best option is to seek other software. Perhaps I should stick to Lightroom :)

  HEIC can't be opened in Windows. If you don't have MAC then I guess your only choice would be to convert them to another file type. Here's what I recommend.

  HEIC can be opened in Windows. Go to the Microsoft Store and install the HEIC extension. Whether that allows Luminar to open it I do not know.

  Hi guys,

  Among our apps on Windows, only Luminar AI currently supports HEIC files (starting from Update 3).
