Why did skylum stop updating aurora?
AnsweredLooks like it's been about a year since any update was released. I won't be buying another version of aurora just to fix the issues in the current version. Deghosting is next to useless. The batch update doesn't give me the option to just tell it how many photos are in each set, instead of letting it guess as to how many shots are in each bracket.
I'm not sure what's involved in fixing the deghosting issues. But surely at least being able to specify the number of shots in each bracket should be a simple thing to do - i'm betting something that could be done in a day. And yet, no updates for a year.
Compared to adobe your prices are great, but your product support in terms of updates SUCKS. I expect to have to pay for new features. I don't expect to have to pay to fix features that are broken or missing (like setting the bracket size). At this point I will be shocked if either of these things gets fixed in an update, versus having to buy a new version. And I will NOT buy another version of anything if updates aren't done more frequently.

well i appreciate you being honest with me. But this doesn't inspire any confidence that skylum will actually start updating their products on a reasonable schedule. No ETA after a year of no updates pretty much says you guys have no plans for updating aurora, otherwise you'd at least have an ETA at this point. As of now, I'm just going to go back to checking out some of your competitors. While I thought the look of the photos i can produce with aurora were a little bit better then the program I was using previously, the lack of updates and the slowdowns caused by bugs makes those slight differences inconsequential.

I think skylum takes the approach that since their software is cheaper then adobes, they don't have to put out updates, they can just charge you for a new release.
If they come out with a new version of Aurora, I won't be buying it at this point. If I pay for a program, regardless of the price, I expect it to work as advertised, or get fixed in a reasonable amount of time. Skylum hasn't done either of those things. So I'm definitely going to be using something else instead of Aurora. And I'll see how well luminar works and how they handle updates on that before I decide if I just drop skylum entirely.

oh look...6 months later and I don't see any 'exciting news'. Unless of course your definition of soon is a lot different from my definition of soon.
Do you have any idea how stupid it is and what a waste of time it is having to set the output directory on EVERY batch task instead of just letting me automatically set the destination as a subfolder of the source? It's just beyond stupid that you have a pretty good product, but with such annoying problems, most of which can be fixed very quickly. And you do nothing about it.
