Sky Replacement AI Masking
AnsweredI just got Luminar 4 last night because I finally had some real estate photos that I needed to replace the sky on since it was completely overcast at the time. The house I am editing now has some metal roofing which is getting confused in the sky replacement AI. I don't expect it to be perfect, and the results are great overall, except that I have to do a lot of finagling to get the house to look just right with the masking. From what I have noticed so far, it seems a lot of this stems from the fact that there is a single mask being used for both the sky replacement and all of the other settings. I have also had some problems with water doing the same thing.
I don't know how hard it would be to set a separate mask only for the sky replacement so that you could remove chunks of clouds from places that it shouldn't be on without removing the masking that does things like recoloring the photo, but it would be a great feature to streamline the process of editing photos.

Hi Zack,
We've had a lot of users ask for a separate mask for AI Sky Replacement so we do have it on our feature request list. I don't know at this time when/if it will be implemented.
You can refine the results by using the Sky Global, Sky Local, and Close Gaps sliders. More info here: https://manual.skylum.com/4/en/topic/ai-sky-replacement-tool
With areas such as the metal roofing, you may need to work with the masking brush to fix those areas. https://manual.skylum.com/4/en/topic/masking-options-in-lumina
If you still aren't able to get an acceptable result, please send the example to us at support@skylum.com. If the file(s) are too large to email you can use WeTransfer.com and then include the shared download link in your email to us. We are constantly working to train and improve the AI for better results and appreciate your help in sending us tough subjects!
