When will you update Aurora HDR
AnsweredHi Elena Blum
You prematurely closed Helge Skogh's question with what can only be described as an inaccurate and uninformative response. You said, and I'm quoting you here:
"Hi,
Our team will release an update for Luminar 3 soon and will be shipping an update for Aurora HDR 2019 later this year.
Please stay tuned and check for updates."
The quite obvious truth about Luminar, and you surely know this, it's just been updated to 3.2.0. Like days ago recently. I know Skylum rolls out their updates in a staged release so not all countries get the update in the first stage, but in not too long all will get it. So saying "Our team will release an update for Luminar 3 soon" is basically a silly thing to say when you've just released an update. Or are you suggesting that the NEXT update, the one AFTER 3.2.0, is due soon? That's a rather fast cycle given the track record!
Please clarify, were you referring to the already released Luminar 3.2.0 or some yet to be released version that is in fact expected "soon"?
Speaking of "soon", you also stated Skylum "will be shipping an update for Aurora HDR 2019 later this year". Well, it's January as we all know. So later this year could mean almost anything. December 31st of 2020 would qualify as "later this year", so could you please be a little more precise? Saying "later this year" in January is basically of no value.
Final comment - and this is really to the whole Skylum team so don't take it personally, it's not meant to be personal:
Please, please, please stop closing posts the moment you've supplied anything even resembling an answer! The sad fact is that all of us are human, including Skylum employees like yourself. Just because you've supplied what you believe is a complete and reasonable answer that sufficiently addresses a users question DOES NOT in fact mean you've succeeded in addressing, or perhaps in some cases even comprehending, the users' question. Closing the thread prematurely like that is like slamming the door on the person who's approached you with a question the moment you stop speaking. You're making some pretty bold assumptions that you've done justice to their question and it's quite frankly nothing short of rude. Would you want your questions answered this way?
Threads are just exactly that - threads of conversation on a particular topic. And a response to a question can and often does lead to follow on questions which are on topic for that thread.
I'll say this again, and I know I'm not alone here. Please stop prematurely closing threads! It's extremely rude, and you're alienating your users.

Hi Steve,
Aurora HDR 2019 is indeed not fully compatible with Catalina MacOS and doesn't support .CR3-format at the moment. At this time, we're mainly focused on developing our main product Luminar, therefore, there's no precise ETA for the next Aurora update. Nevertheless, we plan it and once we have any news regarding that, we'll definitely let you know.
For now, we recommend you to install Adobe DNG Converter and convert your RAW files to DNG file format (which is supported by Aurora).
Please use one of the links below to download Adobe DNG Converter:

Thank you, Steve, for your comments regarding Elena Blum's sort of stiff upper-lip answer to my question about Aurora 2020. I was just curious as we are now a bit into the new year. Elena's answer was strange. She talked about updating Aurora 2019 (not 2020) some time this year... (still eleven months left). Maybe Skylum should rename Aurora and just call it Aurora, without a year. That would lessen the developers's stress a lot and avoid uncomfortable questions.
Also it surprises me that there is going to be an update of Skylum's Luminar 3. Of course it is nice if version three will still be updated. I know people who find the new interface (of Luminar 4) a bit difficult to adapt to. Me included, but I have got used to it now, as I hope most people will as Luminar is great!
Anyway, now I know about Aurora and will not have to turn to Adobe Lightroom Classic when it comes to HDR photography.

Thanks for the links to the Adobe DNG converter. Sounds like a kludgy workflow but I’ll give that a try.
FYI I’m using Aurora 2019 on a 2015 MacBookPro running Catalina. Seems to work fine for me.
Also while Skylum may think of a Luminar as the flagship app, I use Aurora FAR more than Luminar. I’m probably not the only one who does.
