Luminar 4 performance | Canon EOS RP CR3 files | New 2019 3.6ghz 6-core iMac
AnsweredHey you guys,
Thanks for the 4.1.0 update of Luminar 4. I've posted with the same title back in November and since then haven't used the app as it was simply not usable.
Wanted to provide you feedback on 4.1.0.
- It doesn't crash every 5 minutes anymore
- Performance loading the full screen previews in edit mode seems faster but not good enough
- Performance of "Looks previews" in the bottom panel is the main bottle neck, can take up to 10 seconds per photo. Also this bar sometimes fails completely - then you get purple lines through all preview areas and the only recovery is killing the app.
It's becoming better, please work on performance more. Far more important to have people use the app - than adding features.
Specs:
iMac retina 5K 27"
3.7 ghz 6 core intel core i5
24 gb 2667 mhz DDR 4 ram
Radeon Pro 580x 8 gb

One workaround to save time I got myself to use now:
- Go through all your photos in grid view first
- Favorite those photos you actually want to edit
- Then go through the photos in full screen edit modeStill slow, but I must say I am impressed by some of the AI enhance features. Results are pretty nice.

Can Looks be switched off so they do not preload every time a new image is opened (I'm using as plugin to Photos on Mac)?
I would prefer to only open Looks when I need them rather than they automatically open every photo.
