Luminar 4.0.0 working well for me
AnsweredI started with Aurora HDR a few years ago and purchased Luminar 3 last year. In December 2019 I purchased Luminar 4. I had about 1500 images from a trip to Europe in L3 on a iMac. I also use L3 and L4 on a laptop MacBook Air 13" that I take on trips. The MacBook Air is running Catalina (10.15.2) and the iMac is running 10.13.6 (it is an older iMac that cannot upgrade to Catalina).
When I installed Luminar 4 on the iMac, it asked if I wanted it to start with my L3 catalog, I agreed to that. It set up all of my L3 catalog with all of those edits without any trouble. Everything is just working.
I think Skylum did an amazing job on Luminar 4. The organization of the tools (filters in older Luminar-speak) is perfect for me. I finally can easily find everything I need in a workflow that seems natural to me. It is sort of start-at-the-top-and-work-your-way-down. It makes so much sense to me that I am easily finding and using tools I never really understood before or found only once but could not remember where they were in L3. Oh, and that masking option on every tool is kind of genius.
The Portrait tools are amazing!!! I have been watching tutorials by Jim Nix on YouTube about Luminar 4 and I highly recommend those too. I look forward to 2020 and Luminar 4 and my photography hobby with eagerness. Honestly, if no changes were made to 4.0.0 I would be happy enough, but I suspect there will be some improvements or enhancements this coming year too.
Great job Skylum!
I have no affiliation with Skylum or Jim Nix or Apple or anybody other than purchasing their products at list price with my own money. I am just an ordinary photo hobbyist.

Well, everyone has different demands. If someone edits one photo per week or 1000 photos per week, that's a big difference. Less photos, less crashes. Less photos, less frustations from slowness.
Features of Luminar are great, but for more professional work, it's such a big pain at the moment.
