Crash workaround
AnsweredI had been. having an issue with L4 continually crashing. I had not seen this issue until I returned from a trip and started processing a large number of photos in one particular folder. Suddenly L4 crashed when I was doing nothing more than browsing through the photos and zooming some of them (some were BIF photos). After the crash I could not restart L4 without it crashing, sometimes immediately, sometimes after a minute or so.
I tried removing the existing catalog and creating a new one. That solved the crash upon start, but L4 when I reloaded the image folderL4 still crashed, sometimes when I was doing nothing at all, having walked away from my MBP, sometimes when browsing. I went through this iteration perhaps 6 or 7 times, L4 crashed, I removed the catalog, restarted L4, created a new catalog and then loaded the same unprocessed raw images. Boom - L4 crashed.
One thing I noticed during some of the crashes is that while I was browsing the images the crash seemed to come when L4 was completing the Looks display across the bottom of the screen. I decided to close the Looks display so that I no longer had to wait for the display to complete and see if that had any effect on the repeated crashes. I exited and restarted L4 with a new catalog, reloaded the raw images and started browsing. That seemed to have fixed the crash issue. I was able to process through the entire folder, zooming as I chose, sending stuff to Photoshop, adjusting images and the like, with no crash. I don't know if this applies to others having the same repeated. crash issues but I thought it was worth posting what seemed to work for me.
I work on a 2018 MacBook Pro (i9 chip, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD, High Sierra) processing Olympus EM-1.2 raw images.
