When Sky Replacement fails
AnsweredI have generally been very pleased with the Sky Replacement functionality in L4 and it is the reason that I bought the new release. However, as good as it is, it is not perfect and some sky replacements end up with isolated sections of the old sky rather than the new one.
My issue is not that the sky replacement is not perfect. It has only failed for me when there are small and isolated sections that do not get the new sky. My issue is that I can not find any way to erase the old sky and uncover the new sky where the replacement fails. I can erase the new sky and show the old, but not the reverse.
So I wanted to know if anyone on this forum knows how to remove the old sky manually when it appears and display the new sky. The erase tool does not do that. Editing the mask does not do that. I have been forced to either use the clone tool or load the photo in Photoshop, along with the new sky, and try to do it there.

I've noticed this same problem and have read here on the forum that it has to do with the AI engine believing that part of your sky is "more interesting", and that sky replacement is really best on a fairly boring and flat sky. If that's the case then maybe the solution is to *first* edit the parts of your sky that may have greater contrast (and thus be more interesting), then *secondly* apply the AI sky. Maybe that way you can fool it into doing what you really wanted more easily?
Cheers,
Steve
