How to Use Skylum’s Luminar 4 with Capture One
PinnedMany artists who use Luminar along with other photo-editing tools want to easily apply different kinds of adjustments in different apps. If you are one of these artists, you will find the following article super-useful for your editing process.
Users of Capture One software can easily access Luminar 4 as part of their imaging workflow. This option works well for all photographers, but is best suited for a RAW workflow.

Agree with the above comments. Workflow does not work with either Capture One 12 or Capture One 20 for Fujifilm. Luminar 4 appears as a plugin and is ticked as activated but icon does not show against the plugin preferences dialog box or when invoking it in open with/edit with. My current workaround is to edit the RAF file as a TIFF in Photoshop, invoke the PS Luminar 4 filter, proceed with changes in L4 and apply, then save in PS and it will appear in C1. Cumbersome and tethers me to PS when I am looking at ways to cease my subscription in favour of C1.

I have the same problem with Capture One 12 (Fuji Express version). When I try to send an image to Luminar 4, using Edit with/Luminar 4, a tiff file is created but never makes its way to Luminar 4, whether Luminar 4 is open or closed. There is no icon beside Luminar 4 in the Edit with menu.
Strangely, I can edit in Lumiar 2018 or Luminar 3 using this method!
Open with does absolutely nothing with Luminar 4, but does open a photo in Luminar 2018 or Luminar 3.
In Capture One, Luminar 4 is listed as a plugin.
UPDATE
I think I may have just found a solution! In the Preferences for Capture One, Pick an app is listed as one of the plugins. So what I did was to use Edit with/Pick an app, allow the tiff file to be created, then go to Luminar 4.exe in the window that opens. I then closed both Capture One and Luminar 4, reopened Capture One, then went to Edit with Luminar 4 (which now appeared with an icon beside it), and would you believe that the tiff opened in Luminar 4!!
Try that if you have had the same problem and post back to let me know if it works for you.

Don't work ,Allan.
With your proceeding, it opens in Luminar, but when i re-open C1, it isn't no icon beside and we are from beginning.
Furthermore, when i want to close Luminar, where is the button ''Apply''? And how and where i can save the file ?......
it's a really annoying problem !!!........

Same thing here, why there is no apply button? Or save? Whatever image you open you have to export. This is the first time I see a photo or video software without a proper save button.
What did the developers think about?
Can we believe that Luminar will one day be a proper finished software? Or is ti too much to ask?

Hi!
I own the latest versions of Luminar 4 and Capture One Pro (20).
Sadly none of the above suggestions seem to work for me.
A few things that seem "off":
- First, I can't install Luminar 4 as a plugin for Capture One. I can only do so for the Adobe solutions.
- Second, when I go to Capture One preferences, go the Plugins section, and want to add Luminar 4 to the "Open With Plugin", Luminar 4 just isn't there nor can I see to browse for it.
- Third, when right-clicking on a picture in Capture One and selecting either "edit with" or "open with", Luminar 4 doesn't appear by default (which I guess is normal, seen the above). I can, however, look for Luminar 4 and I do get some form of exporting process (where I get a few options, and a variant is actually created), but then it crashes saying something along the lines of "failed to connect to the plugin" (my Capture One is in French).
Long story short, it's not working for me.
What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Nicolas-Xavier,
Please, note that there is no direct integration with C1 implemented into Luminar 4 as it is for Adobe apps. However, you may still use Luminar 4 as an external editor with it.
If you've tried the steps from the article above and it didn't work for you, please, reach our tech support via
https://skylum.com/support and we'll do our best to make it work for you. We also have French-speaking agents, so you may contact us in French if it's more convenient for you.

Status update for those who might have the same issue than I had: the issue is actually with Windows 10 if I'm not mistaken.
For unknown reasons, Luminar 4 simply wasn't associated with opening picture files such as .jpg.
So I first opened a regular jpg with Luminar, forcing it's association thereto.
Then I went to C1, and right-clicked on a picture. And Luminar 4 was there, waiting for me.
The app no longer crashes, I no longer have error messages.
So it's fixed! :-)

I've a fresh installation of Luminar 4 and Capture One 12 (both started and activated). But Capture One doesn't list Lumiar 4 in the plugin dialog. Other programs like FireFox, Affinity or Luminar 3 are listed.
