Luminar 4 Library along with another Library in Lightroom
AnsweredIs anyone maintaining 2 libraries? One in Lightroom and one in Luminar?
I would like to try out the Library features in Luminar 4 without disturbing my Lightroom Library.
Should I import all the images from Lightroom to Luminar 4 to accomplish this?

Hi Deborah,
You can simply add the folders with images via File > Add Folder..
The original files on your drive will not be affected in any way.

You will not be able to see the Luminar edits in Lr though so, when you look at a thumbnail in Lr it will be different to when you look at that same thumbnail in Luminar (the opposite is also true). If you want to try the Luminar Library (and it is well under featured compared to Lr) my advice would be to copy some images into a separate folder and create a test Library in Luminar. If you rely on searching and keywords and managing metadata my further advice is don't bother as Luminar cannot match that functionality, not yet anyway.

I am heavily invested in Lightroom to manage my images, I was looking to try out Luminar 4 without having to round trip using as a plugin. So I just imported the FOLDERs from my external drive. My Lightroom Library remains intact and I am also showing a Luminar Library, to try everything out. I export to my Flickr on a regular basis, and not at all willing to depart from Lightroom for that reason as well as others.
