I downloaded and installed Luminar 4 today and have worked with it for a few hours. The new interface takes a little getting used to, but it functional, just in a different way than before.
Have in been a Luminar user for a few years now, I still find that several basic items are digging from Luminar, that I have requested since at least V2. Here are 3 off the bat:
1. The ability to customize the app in Preferences is as paltry as can be. No ability to customize the color scheme, start up folder or other UI items that most other software has offered for years.
2. Saving to a JPEG results in the default JPEG file extension. I always need to delete to "E" to conform to my naming convention. This is a tedious pain. Why haven't you offered the ability to default to 3 or 4 letter file extensions, where appropriate and to uppercase or lowercase extensions. May other editing apps do this.
3. There is still no option to save a file to it's original folder, without going hunting for it.
A few other negatives:
When using Luminar for just as an editor (which is all I want, I don't use the cataloging functions) it is truly a one image editor. When you close an image in L4, L$ also closes. If you have another image open, then open another, the first image closes. There is only 1 editor window open at a time.
If you close an image in Luminar and Luminar closes, when you reopen Luminar, it reopens with the last image that you edited open.
These things all make Luminar less than ideal as a professional editor.
Saved JPGs are still much larger that they are if saved from PS.
You have touted Luminar 4 as being developed by listening to you users. That statement does not hold water.
I my estimate, you perhaps hit a double with L4, but certainly not a home run. I'm not ready to leave Adobe yet (or probably buy another version of Luminar).
