The Accent AI filter is brilliant. The AIs coming in Luminar 4, that we are being (mercilessly) teased with look to be the same and then some.
Kind of got me thinking. Where would I like to see it applied?
I think number one on my wish list would be an AI restoration of prints/slides/ negatives featue.
It's amazing what can be done in Photoshop and Affinity Photo to restore and enhance such pictures. The big 'but' is that it takes so much time to restore damaged/ faded images. I've got 1000's of badly stored film and print based pictures. Multiply say 1000 images by say an arbitrary 20 minutes per image. That's a big deal in terms of time.
Thinking in terms of colour and B&W scans for:
- Sheet film
- Roll film
- Glass plates
Could Luminar AI functionality be created to restore images addressing such issues as:
- Fading - colour / tone degradation
- Physical damage
I think restorers around the world would be happy to see significant reductions in time taken to restore an image, with perhaps a handoff to Ps/AP for final finishing.
I'd say there's a lot of mileage in / potential for such a Luminar AI feature.
